2.Empty Out Whether you’re cleaning out indoor or outdoor waste containers, removing anything inside is the first order of business
For outdoor cans, check for bugs or rodents that may have been making their homes in the can
3.Rinse If you’re cleaning out an indoor can, rinsing it in the shower or tub is your best option
If you can attach a hose to a hot water source, use that for outdoor bins
If you can’t, it’s better to bring out buckets of hot water than to use cold water
4.Add the Disinfectant Add between one-third and one-quarter or a cup of bleach or ammonia
NEVER mix the two, that is a recipe for unpleasant and unhealthy fumes
5.Scrub time Use a rag or a scrub brush to clean all the bin’s surfaces, both inside and out, to get rid of any smells and residue
