CORKBUZZ
T
his fall, Corkbuzz is buzzing more than ever. Master Sommelier and CEO Laura Maniec is excited to have
been selected as a judge and mentor for a new Esquire Network series, Uncorked—premiering November 10—that will follow 5 New York sommeliers as they prepare for the extraordinarily difficult Master Sommelier exam. Corkbuzz also recently introduced 15 flights to the wine list, including a sampling that features three different Riesling vintages from all over the world and an Italian flight that Laura loves for fall. Speaking of favorite fall vintages, Maniec is a big fan of orange wine, an ancient style of wine making only recently rediscovered by the western world. Maniec describes orange wine as "somewhere between a white a rosé—perfect for Thanksgiving." She recommends varieties by Monvia, Channing, Daughters, and Red Hook. To learn more, visit corkbuzz.com, and mark your calendars for October 29, when Corkbuzz hosts DJ Birocratic and offers half-off champagne, $8 glasses of wine and discounted cocktails.

BAR TRUMAN AMERICAN BRASSERIE
W
e caught up with Heather Dickey-Wells, managing partner at Chelsea Market's soon-to-open eatery
Bar Truman, to get the scoop on the new venue. Heather describes Bar Truman as "An American Brasserie with a post-war theme." Look for farm-to-table fare with a highlight on classic mid-century dishes that are making a comeback—Beef Wellington, Waldorf Salad, and Filet Oscar to name a few. Bar Truman's drink menu is also sure to be a standout. Beverage Director Lamar Wells is planning an intensive bar and cocktail program, with an emphasis on bringing back the big happy hours that defined postwar America's booming business economy. The venue will also boast monthly chef tasting dinners, as well as a flexible space for private events or intimate dinners. To stay up to date and in the know about everything Bar Truman, follow them on Twitter @bartrumannyc.
ON THE WALLS
HUGH MCMAHON
C
arving artist Hugh McMahon's incredible pumpkin carvings have lit up the concourse at Chelsea Market
during the Halloween Season for the past ten years. This year, look for his tribute to Charles Falchi, who passed away earlier this year. In addition to his pumpkin carvings, you also won't want to miss McMahon's photography on the walls of the concourse this September and October. Noche de Raba単os (Night of the Radishes) is an exhibition and competition of carved radishes in Oaxaca, Mexio. Each December 23rd, the community turns agriculturally enhanced radishes into scenes of Mexican Folklore, Christian Nativity, Political Revolution, Day of the Dead, Fire-Breathing Dragons, and every day. McMahon photographed the event, and this fall market visitors will experience Noche de Raba単os all season as they stroll through the concourse. Learn more about McMahon and his artwork at hmcmahonpumpkins.com.

ERNI VALES, WITH ARTISTS & FLEAS
W
hen Artists & Fleas opened at Chelsea Market, owner Ronen Glimer was intrigued to discover hints of Erni
Vales graffiti lurking under the shop's whitewashed exterior. By the time Artists & Fleas discovered the connection, Erni had become an internationally acclaimed street artist. This past May, Artists & Fleas had a chance to honor its connection with Erni by sponsoring a revival of his popular "CoLAb" project. 2,000 people dropped by the CoLAb space to create collaborative art on more than 80' of paper. Several recognized street artists—including Cey and Cycle—came by to leave their marks, but Erni was most impressed by the raw talent he discovered in work created by community contributors. This November and December, Artists & Fleas will exhibit pieces co-created with Erni at last May's CoLAb event on the walls of the Chelsea Market concourse. All works will be made available for sale. Visit evlworld.com for more info. Be sure to also stop by Artists & Fleas to view oversized Erni Vales artwork on permanent display in the High Line cutouts inside the shop.
