Uprise Art
Uprise Art makes it possible for art enthusiasts from all walks of life to collect original artwork. View three unique Uprise Art series on the walls of Chelsea Market through January, 2013.
T
his Winter, Chelsea Market partnered with Uprise Art, a NYC-based gallery that makes art collecting easy and affordable. The exhibition, on view through January 2013, features three collections of original artwork by artists Diana Delgado, Robert Otto Epstein, Dolly Faibyshev, and Ashok Sinha. ASHOK SINHA Exacting Proportion is a photographic series by Ashok Sinha that highlights our relationship with nature and the modification of land in the built environment. By placing the scale of various communities out of proportion with the horizon, Exacting Proportion points to environmental and cultural similarities between all of us, while also taking delight in the colorful differences. DOLLY FAIBYSHEV It might be cold outside, but inside Chelsea Market visitors can warm up with Dolly Faibyshev's series Palm Springs, which brings a little summer to the city with its sun-soaked views of California. Vibrant and colorful, Dolly's photographs offer visitors a retreat to Palm Springs with a subtle hint of East Coast wonderment and subtle satire. DIANA DELGADO AND ROBERT OTTO EPSTEIN Color and Craft is a whimsical collection of artwork by Diana Delgado and Robert Otto Epstein. Both artists incorporate craft materials, such as tape and builder’s paper, into their bold colorful works. All artwork is available through Uprise Art either for purchase, or through Uprise Art's innovative "invest-to-own" financing. Take home artwork today and simply invest $50 each month toward owning it. Select your favorite artwork online and Uprise Art takes care of the rest, providing custom framing, hand delivery and installation. Uprise Art’s expertly curated and trusted selection and affordable financing means anyone can live with exciting artwork. Opening February 11, look out for Uprise Art's next exhibition, Best in Show, a solo show by photographer Dolly Faibyshev. Best in Show captures the behind-the-scenes moments between show dogs and their handlers with a bittersweet satire. In this ongoing series, Faibyshev exposes private glimpses within the sophisticated spectacle of dog shows. Learn more about Uprise Art at upriseart.com. 4

Sure-Fire Hangover Cure
Now that the holidays are over, it's time to sober up and get back to business. JCT. Kitchen & Bar's beverage supervisor Eduardo Guzman offers this JCT. Sangrita recipe, guaranteed to deliver a knock-out punch to even the worst holiday hangovers.
F
ord Fry's restaurants may just be the best dining innovation to hit Atlanta in years. What started as a single restaurant, JCT. Kitchen & Bar, has now grown to include No. 246 and The Optimist & Oyster Bar at The Optimist, which Esquire Magazine lists as the best new restaurant of 2012. Fry also has plans to add a food truck concept and a new project called King + Duke in early 2013. In addition to doing food well, Fry's restaurants also do beverages well. We asked beverage specialist Eduardo Guzman to give us a recipe guaranteed to cure a holiday hangover. His JCT. Sangrita, packed with botanicals, hot spices and even a bit of vitamin C, fits the bill. Happy concocting! Ingredients: • 1.5 oz. Hendrick's Gin • 2 dashes soy sauce • .5 oz lime juice • 3 pinches sea salt • 1 dash pickle juice • .5 oz fresh-grated horseradish • 1.5 oz orange juice • 1 oz. muddled hot peppers (serrano, guajillo, chipotle and poblano peppers pureed with Vidalia onion) • Cucumber for garnish Preparation: Shake all ingredients together and pour into an Old Fashioned glass filled with cubed ice. Repeat as needed until shakes subside and headache eases. However, don't overdo, or you'll have to start all over again in the morning!
