Our Charity has only been operating for a year. Yet, we have made a massive difference in many survivors' lives by making their homes secure and habitable after an abusive partner destroyed them. The trauma we witness when meeting these survivors and their children is tangible, and by repairing their homes, we can help them rebuild their lives.
Each survivor's story and circumstances are different, and we focus on their immediate needs, providing them with security cameras, new secure locks and repairs to the property.
Our Charity's long-term ambition is also to refurbish properties to create safe houses which offer sanctuary to families fleeing their abusers. Your support will help us grow and achieve our ambitions.
My survivor story was first broadcast in an interview with Jeremy Vine on BBC Radio last summer. This propelled me into a media spotlight that enabled me to help many other survivors and bring in support from many wonderful individuals and companies.
Please help us help more Domestic Abuse Survivors by donating tonight. We have enclosed a donation form for you to fill in with an envelope to put your form in, with either your cash or card donation details.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart, Naima xx
Rebuilding Lives UK relies on fundraising, donations, and time from the trades to provide its services to Domestic Abuse Survivors. We want to ask you to help us.
As each survivor we work with has different needs, depending on the damage incurred in their property, it's difficult to give exact costs. However, based on the survivors we have worked with so far, we can estimate that, on average, we are spending £2,000 to secure and make each home habitable.
During this evening you can help in many ways.
• We have an incredible raffle, so please buy tickets.
• We have an auction of fantastic prizes for you to bid on, and you can also donate.
• Cash – There is a form on the table for you to fill in, and then place the cash in an envelope with the form.
• Card donations – If you want to donate by card, Naima and her twin sister Hamida will come around with a card reader to take your donation. We would like you to still fill in the form so we can acknowledge your contribution after the event.
• Volunteering – If you would like to offer your time and services to the Charity, that would be amazing. Whatever your skill or time is available, Naima would welcome discussing how you can help. Please email naima@rebuildinglives-uk.org to arrange a call with Naima.
• Regular Donations – We love regular donations as this helps us to plan our activities. If you would like to make monthly donations, please go to: https://rebuildinglivesuk.org/how-to-donate/
• Charity of the Year – Would your company consider adopting us as their Charity of the Year? If this is something that would interest you, please email naima@rebuildinglivesuk.org to arrange a call to discuss this.
Thank you for whatever you choose to do to help Rebuilding Lives UK to support more survivors. We couldn't do this without you.
I am so very grateful, Naima xx
J's singing career started at a young age, from performing shows at school and then leaving school and becoming a professional singer. Her first big break was writing an original song and performing at Wembley Stadium, where she won first prize and a CBS recording contract.
After that, she toured the Middle East and China, entertaining ex-patriots and locals. This led to being a supporting act for various artists such as Don McLain, Elaine Page, The Hollies and Leo Sayer.
Later in her life, she fell victim to a domestic abuser who was violent towards her, coercively controlling and causing considerable damage to her home and wouldn't ever let her sing. She contacted the Charity after hearing the Jeremy Vine Show. Rebuilding Lives Uk renovated her home and helped her regain her confidence. This inspired her to start singing once again. She's not only written but has recorded our charity song. She will be performing for the first time 'The Bravest Ones' on the night.

Instead of telling you about my long and distinguished career as an auctioneer (!), I’ll let you into a secret……for the last four years I have been renovating a Welsh cottage whilst attempting to live in it and work full time.
My world at home has been completely upside down, cold, leaky, full of dirt and dust and in complete disarray, but my little cottage has also been filled with love and laughter as my partner and I have learnt how to put our home back together.
I cannot imagine how it must feel not to have chosen to do this; to have had it thrust upon me as a means of abuse. I therefore feel privileged to help Naima in this small way so that Rebuilding Lives UK can put the fabric of survivors’ homes back together and bring love and laughter there too.
As for auctioneering, you can judge how good I am at that later this evening…..

"I would like to welcome our special guests… Jeremy Vine and Nina Hossain. I am so honoured to have them both as supporters of the charity"
"Jeremy has had such an impact on my life. Without his help, my Charity would never have gotten off the ground, and his continuous support and advice helped me through many challenging times, and I suspect he isn't even aware of what he has done for me. Jeremy is one of the most generous men I have ever known and has become my hero. I want to thank him from the bottom of my heart for myself and the many survivors of domestic abuse whom he has helped. Thank you, Jeremy.”
“Nina heard my first interview with Jeremy and offered her support at a time when Rebuilding Lives UK wasn't even established. She believed in the cause, and she believed in me, encouraging me and giving me the confidence to never give up. She is such a warm, considerate, wonderful woman who I admire greatly, and as our ambassador, she helped hugely to raise our profile. Thank you, Nina.”
Television and radio presenter, broadcaster and journalist.
Jeremy hosts a BBC Radio 2 lunchtime programme which presents news, views, interviews with live guests and popular music, a daily Channel 5 TV current affairs show and the quiz programme Eggheads. Also, now on Channel 5 Jeremy is the presenter for the General Election coverage for the BBC, where he uses whizzy graphics to emphasise what is happening on the night.
As a break from his presenting, he was a contestant on Strictly Come Dancing in 2015.
Jeremy first interviewed Naima on his Radio Show last summer, 2021 and has since supported her work and the Charity.
Nina Hossain is an award-winning journalist and ITN newscaster.
Nina is the ITV Lunchtime News' lead presenter and presents News at Ten. During the lockdown period of the pandemic, Nina hosted Coronavirus: Q & A for ITV. She has also co-presented ITV's Election Live coverage for the 2015, 2017 and 2019 elections. Nina won 3 Royal Television Society awards to date.
Nina approached Naima after hearing her on the Jeremy vine show last summer. Like many others, Naima's story inspired Nina, so she kindly offered to become an Ambassador for the Charity to promote Naima's work and help the Charity grow.
