Displaced Movement | January 2021
ABSTRACT & DISPLACED Project Scope In this project, the objective is to design a new bridge or link of the site at Prospect Street, between Pearl Street and Cadman Plaza, Brooklyn. This new link will replace the existing two-level connection, enhancing the vibrant connectivity among the new and diverse tenants and programs, between the buildings and this unique urban context, creating a gateway into DUMBO. Based on the dramatic changes in the DUMBO neighborhood, formerly owned by the Watchtower society, the buildings are linked by several existing walkways. In the near future, the Brooklyn Tech Triangle will take ownership of the buildings and open them to local artists and their studios as well as their offices. General Concept Inspiration for the form making and design of the bridge comes from the collages and notations. These collages and notations represent the verb “Displacement” and bridge’s design represents displacement due to the circulation of people and form of the bridge. A series of rectangular basswood sheets are connected together to represent a complex formality.

Vertical Movement | March 2021
UTOPIAN & JOURNEY Project Scope In this project, the objective is to develop a site-specific design proposal that creates a vertical structure to experiment with vertical circulation while hosting performative functions. It’s important for the design proposal to thoughtfully develop a design language that achieves a meaningful connection to the site while interweaving given programmatic and environmental parameters. The site is located at the south west corner lot at the intersection of 10th Avenue and E20th street. The current use of the lot will be replaced with the design proposal of the Urban Threshold. Henceforth, the main goal is to amplify systematic thinking. General Concept Inspiration for the form making and design of vertical structure comes from the collages. These collages represent the “Journey” and “Utopia” that the High Line creates for people. This vertical structure creates the journey for people when acending to the High Line by displaying arts, projected theatre, and performances.

Fragmented Landscape | August 2021
FRAGMENTED & ENVIRONMENTAL Given the enormous challenges society is facing from harmful enviornmental issues, the task for this project is to think about how design can be a transformative agent for change, an advocate for inclusion and equality, and a vehicle for community-building. How can a space become designed where the individual and collective voices can be heard? How can this place support activism, awareness, education, and protest? This project is the first part of a two-part project. This initial project focuses on designing a place for protest. The design and program of the site orinignates from the social or political issue chosen. General Concept Inspiration for the form making and design of the protest landscape comes from the notations. The notations represent how Earth is fragmenting due to the harm and neglect caused by society. Humanity has the opportunity to unite and confront these environmental issues

FRAGMENTED & ENVIRONMENTAL
After completing the first project, there is a thorough development in understanding of the site and have developed a formal response to the research about environmental issue. For this second project the challenge is to design and integrate a community education center into the site designed in Project 01. How can this facility help to bring awareness about the issue chosen to explore? How can design and architecture help to inspire change?
General Concept The design for the community center had to relate and connect to the overall protest landscape. This community center is meant to educate the residents within proximity on how to plant most effectively and how to improve the environment on a daily basis. Circulation Throughout Building
Occupants can enter the community center through the ground level main entrance or the entrance within the protest landscape on the level below grade. The ground floor consists of three classrooms to educate the residents within the neighborhood on how to improve their environment by including elements of greenery throughout their daily lives. The sceond floor has an additional classroom and a majority of non-public spaces are loacted to one side of the building. The community room and an otudoor demonstration garden is also located on this level. Finally, the level below grade consists of an exhibit hall.

The case study utilized for this project is 4 Lumber St. LLC. The project was to follow the precedent layout and overall form of the building, however, the framing and passive house concept was achieved through both conventional and unconventional means. The passive house exercise involved the research and understanding of the use of insulation, air barrier and thermal breaks to meet high performance. In addition, this project will consist investigation of the assembly of building components and methods of construction while developing proficiency in both analog and digital drawing techniques, and professional level construction drawing.techniques, and professional level construction drawing.

Museum Exhibit Spaces & Function
Each of the Museum’s exhibitions will demonstrate how Cuban culture consists of the merge between European (Spanish) and African influences and how this merge is repairing Cuban culture due to the past and existing harmful restrictions from political regime. Each exhibition will educate and consist its own unique element of Cuban culture. Therefore, the different levels of the Museum should each extend the knowledge and educate the occupants by utilizing circulation routes that wraps around the large exhibition spaces, and connects to the different programs of the Museum. When the occupants leaves the Museum they should have a greater understanding of how Cuban Culture represents that different cultures can merge together, which can fix or begin to repair any sort of existing damage to a culture 22

FAÇADE STUDIES Drawing Sets Building Technology III INDIVIDUAL WORK - Spring Semester 2022 Supervisor: Prof. PAUL KING In this project, the objective was understand the assembly of a Glass Curtain Wall and Solid Rain Screen Panel System. I had to select two manufacturers of façade materials, one Solid Panel System material and one Glass Curtain Wall. Each of the systems had to be applied onto a two-story façade with parapet, that includes both inside and outside corner plan conditions. When looking at the façade I had to focus on 6 primary questions which the drawings & presentation must address: • How does is function structurally? • What is the waterproofing strategy? • How does it function thermally? • How is it fireproofed? • How does it allow for movement? (expansion and contraction) & (assembly adjustment) • What was the order of assembly & installation?

PANEL SYSTEM’S FURTHER INFORMATION
CURTAIN WALL SYSTEM’S FURTHER INFORMATION
The Terracotta Panels can be incorporated in both horizontal and vertical support systems. For additional design flexibility, the panels can be oriented in either a horizontal or vertical layout. The three conditions are the outside corner, inside corner, & middle condition. The terracotta panels are supported by the clips. This clip holds the panels and the bottom clips form the shape of a “J”, while the top is a mirrored version of this “J”. Overall, there are three conditions for the clips: Top clip, middle clip, & bottom clip. The clips are then connected to a series of vertical tracks that also occur in three conditions: Outside corner, inside corner, and middle condition. All the vertical tracks are connected to a horizontal Z Girt and the cavity or space in the Z Girt is stuffed with 2” of rigid insulation to prevent water from entering the building. The Z Girth then connects to the Metal C Studs that are 16” OC. The sheathing that separates the Z Girth and the Metal C Stud consists of a waterproofing membrane.
For the curtain wall company, I chose the YCW 750 OG Curtain walls system. The YCW 750 OG (Outside Glazed) is a pressure wall system that provides the flexibility required for today’s projects. The system offers a wide variety of face covers and several different depth back members that can accommodate taller spans and higher design pressures. The system provides improved thermal performance to conserve energy and lower operating costs. This curtain wall system is Stick built that uses concealed fasteners (NOT UNITIZED). A shear block is placed right into the horizontal mullion with ease and secures the system by fastening bolts into the vertical mullion and another set of screws on the top and/or bottom.
