SPECIAL EVENT

Rosberg tries out his mooncake-making skills under the guidance of Chef Many of Szechuan Court restaurant

Whirlwind day

The recent F1 weekend in Singapore was not short of fun and excitement,   and Options brings you two events that caught our attention. The first is AT&T Williams team driver Nico Rosberg’s busy, yet enjoyable, day out in the city.

N Fans whipped out their cameras as soon as Rosberg stepped into Harry Bar at CHIJMES

ico Rosberg, AT&T Williams team driver and Oris ambassador had a busy day when he visited Singapore to take part in the F1 race. A few days before the race began on Sept 25, Rosberg got a taste of Singapore life when he visited the Peranakan Museum to learn about one of the country’s richest cultures. Next, he was whisked away to Szechuan Court restaurant at The Fairmont Singapore to try his hand at making mooncakes, as it was the Mid-Autumn festival. How did he do? He turned out to be deft

at it, producing mini mooncakes that would make any chef proud. Fans of Rosberg were not disappointed when he made his way to Cortina boutique at Raffles City, where they got a chance to chat with him and get his autograph. Next stop on his race to get to know Singapore was Harry’s Bar at CHIJMES, where Oris hosted 150 guests, who also had the opportunity to get up close to Rosberg. There was never a dull moment for Rosberg and we hope he will be back next year for the third F1 night race in Singapore.

A

mbassador for luxury watch Audemars Piguet and F1 driver Jarno Trulli made it a personal quest to raise money to help rebuild his hometown of Abruzzo, Italy after it was damaged by an earthquake in April. To achieve his goal, Trulli roped in Audemars Piguet and his F1 mates to donate items, which were auctioned off on Sept 23 at Senso restaurant at the very chic Club Street, when the F1 team was in Singapore for the second F1 night race. The donated items were the Royal Oak Tourbillon and Chronograph timepiece; Sébastien Buemi’s racing helmet; Mark Webber’s racing suit and helmet; David Coulthard’s racing helmet; Jenson Button’s racing suit and Trulli’s racing suit. Guests bid for their favourite item and, at the end of the evening, a total of $400,000 was raised. Each bidder not only walked home with his or her coveted item but also a Royal Oak Table clock worth $5,800 and that is powered by an eight-day power reserve.
