PROVINCIAL GRAND MASTER’S CERTIFICATE OF SERVICE TO FREEMASONRY
Provincial Grand Masters of the Province of Durham have presented to worthy Brethren a Certificate of Service to Freemasonry. The recipients of these certificates are: W Bro Francis William Dixon (1925–2005) PJGD Presented with a certificate by RW Bro Dr. A. M. Davison, on 26th June 1999, in respect of his contribution to the Province as Deputy and subsequently Provincial Grand Director of Ceremonies (1976–86), and the Craft Province in general.
W Bro William Gillhespy (1920–2012) PSGD Presented with certificate by RW Bro Dr. A. M. Davison, on 24th June 2000, in respect of his contribution as an Assistant Provincial Grand Master (1981–89), and to the many other degrees throughout the Province.
W Bro Rev. John Robert Marsden (1922–2014) PJGD Presented with certificate by RW Bro Dr. A. M. Davison, on 30th September 2002, in respect of his contribution to the Provincial Chaplain’s office (1978–2002), and for the many interesting and appropriate Orations.
W Bro Thomas Fowler Rea Coulson PJGD Presented with certificate by RW Bro Dr. A. M. Davison, on 24th June 2005, in respect of his contribution to and development of the Provincial Museum.
W Bro Alan Hall (1942–2020) PJGD Presented with certificate by RW Bro D. Richmond, on 5th December 2007, for his contribution as Provincial Grand Secretary and Provincial Grand Scribe E, (1986–2007), and Secretary of the Provincial Benevolent Committee and the Craft and Royal Arch Province in general.
W Bro Joseph Randle Oliver (1925–2020) PJGD Presented with certificate by RW Bro N. E. Heaviside, on 27th June 2009, for use of his calligraphy skills in numerous charitable projects in particular and Freemasonry in general within the Province.
W Bro Andrew Peter Fall Foster PJGD Presented with Certificate by RW Bro N E Heaviside on 18th November 2016 for his outstanding contributions as Provincial Director of Ceremonies for 6 years, the formation of the Provincial Grand Stewards Lodge, and the very successful Raby Gala in 2016, for which he was Gala Director.
W Bro Albert Henry (Harry) Norman (1942–2019) PJGD Presented with certificate by RW Bro N. E. Heaviside, on 30th November 2017, for his work in developing and managing the TLC Teddies initiative, including the distribution of over 80,000 Teddies to the various Children’s Accident and Emergency Units around our Province during the previous 12 years.
W Bro John Paul Thompson PSGD Presented with certificate by RW Bro J. Arthur, on 08th October 2021, for his work as 2021 Festival Director raising the staggering amount of £3,477,887 in support of the Royal Masonic Trust for Girls and Boys through the Masonic Charitable Foundation. During this period John also served for four years as an Assistant Provincial Grand Master responsible for the West of the Province.
