A Branson Getaway Whether you’re looking for some family fun, a romantic weekend or to reunite with family and friends Branson is the perfect place. With hundreds of shows, attractions and events along with breathtaking scenery, beautiful lakes and Midwest hospitality your vacation will be one to remember.
Some Branson History The rich history of Branson is reflected in the diversity of its businesses, attractions, museums, historical landmarks, craftsmanship, geology, landscapes, wildlife and military contributions. Branson is famous for its warm hospitality, safe environment, and family values. It's a place where age is honored, youth is celebrated, and service to God and country is revered. Centrally located in the heart of America, we are less than a day's drive from half of the nation's population, making our destination very affordable to access. Branson is a year-round destination for entertainment, shopping and dining. Throughout the year, many special events such as Hot Winter Fun (January-March), Veterans Homecoming (November) and Ozark Mountain Christmas (November and December) offer visitors a special reason to visit. Branson gained popularity from Harold Bell Wright's classic novel "The Shepherd of the Hills," published in 1907. Since then, Branson has attracted visitors with its natural beauty and outdoor recreational activities. In 1959, the Mabe brothers began performing on the shores of Lake Taneycomo. In 1962, the Presley family began entertaining visitors in nearby Kimberling City. The Presleys built the first theater along Highway 76 Strip in 1967, followed by the Mabe Brothers, now known as the Baldknobbers, who built their theater in 1968. In 1960, the Herschend family opened an old-time Ozarks village attraction atop the already popular Marvel Cave, now called the Silver Dollar City theme park. It offers a glimpse into 1880s life of early Ozark Mountain settlers, complete with working craftsmen and folklore display of the Ozarks region. Branson rose to national prominence as an entertainment destination during the early 1990's when the CBS program 60 Minutes dubbed the area the "Country Music Mecca." Since then, an increase in the number and diversity of shows, attractions and lodging amenities (and resulting visitors) has made Branson one of the top vacation destinations in the country. As Branson has grown it has earned the name of ―Live Entertainment Capitol of the World‖. Today Branson is known for it‘s many entertainment options for families, friends and groups alike. It‘s central location, family friendly attitude and affordable activities and lodging makes it a great place for anyone to vacation. Whether you‘re looking for a quick getaway or a long relaxing vacation Branson hits the spot.

table rock lake Table Rock Lake Table Rock Lake, spanning more than 43 thousand acres and 800 miles of shoreline, has become a perennial favorite vacation spot for campers, pleasure boaters, fishermen and lovers of water sports of all kinds. Located in the beautiful Ozark Mountain Country of southwestern Missouri, Table Rock Lake is situated near one of the nation's most popular entertainment and leisure destinations, Branson, Missouri. Fishing: Acclaimed as one of the top bass fishing lakes in North America, Table Rock boasts an abundance of bass, crappie, white bass, catfish, and bluegill. An aggressive fish management program, resulting in an impressive resurgence of largemouth, Kentucky and smallmouth bass of exceptional size, has allowed the lake to become an exciting stop for hobbyists and professionals alike. Nature enthusiasts and hunters enjoy using the public lands surrounding Table Rock Lake which includes portions of the Mark Twain National Forest. History: Table Rock was created in August of 1958, when the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers built Table Rock Dam across the White River. Construction had begun in October of 1954 and by June of 1959 hydro-electric power was being distributed to the Ozarks. The area had already established itself as a prime fishing and recreation area as far back as the 1930s, but needed protection from devastating floods on the White River. Beneath the dam, the

table rock lake Missouri Department of Conservation operates a fish hatchery, which is used to stock trout in Lake Taneycomo. Activities: The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers manages the lake and Table Rock Dam. Thirteen Corps of Engineers operated campgrounds, located adjacent to Table Rock Lake, provide swimming areas, boat launch sites, campgrounds and family picnic areas. Full service marinas and over 100 privately owned resorts supply convenient services and a wide variety of water related activities for visitors. Boat cruises ranging from small pleasure craft and amphibious vehicles to a fullsized Showboat are also available. So put on our suit and get ready for high speed thrills or relaxation in the sun. Whatever your choice you‘ll be amazed at the beauty of Table Rock Lake. The shorelines are mostly undisturbed and the water quality is usually some of the clearest lake water you‘ll ever see. Enjoy!
Branson Fact: There are more than 1,200 campsites on Table Rock Lake.
lake taneycomo Lake Taneycomo Lake Taneycomo's clear cold waters provide some of the finest trout fishing available anywhere in the world. The Rainbow Trout and Brown Trout that ply the waters of Lake Taneycomo provide an exciting, year-round fishing experience. From fly fishing and artificial-only fishing in the Trophy Trout Area near the lake's headwaters, to bait fishing outside of the Trophy area, Lake Taneycomo makes fishing for coveted Rainbow and Brown Trout a rewarding experience. Numerous state records have been earned in Taneycomo's waters. History: Lake Taneycomo (short for Taney County Missouri) was created in 1913 when the White River was captured by the newly constructed "Power Site" Dam, near Forsyth, Missouri. The completion of Table Rock Dam in 1958, 22 miles upstream, created a southern boundary for the Lake which now consists of over 2,080 surface acres. Unlike the Table Rock and Bull Shoals Dams and Lakes, which are owned by the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers, the Power Site Dam is privately owned by Empire Electric Company. This company holds a license to continue operating the Dam and its hydroelectric plant until 2022. From 1913 until 1958 Taneycomo was a "warm water" lake, but when Table Rock Dam started feeding Taneycomo, the water coming through the "power generators" was significantly lower in temperature.Virtually overnight, a "cold water" fishery was created. To take advantage of this change, the Missouri Department of Conservation constructed the "Shepherd of the Hills Trout Hatchery" at the foot of the Dam.
800-978-1999 www.BransonTourismCenter.com
lake taneycomo When power is not being generated, Lake Taneycomo exhibits characteristics of both a river and a lake. The shallow, colder water at Lake Taneycomo Mile Marker 22, located adjacent to the Junction of State Highways 165 and 265 near the Table Rock Dam, averages 48 degrees F, resembles a river and permits wading and bank fishing for trout. The average temperature of the water gets warmer as the lake sinks to depths in excess of 50 feet near Lake Taneycomo Mile Marker 1 and the Power Site Dam in Forsyth. When Table Rock Dam is generating power its current is very strong throughout its whole length, its water temperature drops, and for all practical purposes it becomes a very deep, cold, fast running river. Exactly how deep, cold, and fast depends on how many generators are being used to generate electricity at Table Rock Dam. Warning: When fishing near the Table Rock Dam from the shore or particularly when wading in, pay attention to the horn when it blows. This is a warning indicating that they are going to start generating power. This will cause a sudden increase in the speed of the current and depth of the water. The water can rise feet in a matter of minutes. Note: The majority of the shore on Lake Taneycomo is private property; shore fishing is limited to the public land in state and municipal parks along the shoreline. Additional shore fishing is available at the many trout docks located along the lake. Call the specific resort or trout dock to check their availability.
Branson Fact: There are more than 30 lakeside resorts on Lake Taneycomo.
bull shoals Bull Shoals Bull Shoals Lake, governed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, spans 45,000 acres and has nearly a one-thousand mile shoreline surrounded by deep forests. History: Bull Shoals Lake is a recreation and water sports paradise nestled in north central Arkansas and southwestern Missouri. The lake was formed after the five -year construction of the massive Bull Shoals Dam was completed in 1952. The dam was built to produce hydroelectric power and to help control flooding in the White River basin. As a note of interest, several small family cemeteries and twenty large cemeteries were carefully relocated to enable construction to continue. Fishing: Bull Shoals Lake has garnered wide recognition as a prime mid-western fishery. Boasting several Missouri and Arkansas state angling records, the lake is home to many species, ranging from largemouth and stripped bass to walleye. Programs to improve habitat and enhance fishing have resulted in great success. The White River, downstream of Bull Shoals Dam, is the premier trout fishery in the central United States and has yielded Arkansas state records for cutthroat and rainbow trout. Facilities: Nineteen developed parks around the lake offer facilities including campgrounds, pavilions, docks and boat launches, picnic sites, swimming areas and commercial marinas offering boat and equipment rentals, supplies sales and fishing guide services.

If You Like to Fish, You‘ll Love Branson Branson is home to three world class fisheries. You can choose between Bulls Shoals and Table Rock Lake's bass fishing, or Lake Taneycomo's amazing trout. No matter what kind of fishing you are looking for, Branson has it all! Table Rock Lake, Lake Taneycomo and Bull Shoals Lake, collectively known as TriLakes area, are populated with several different species of Game and Pan Fish. A game fish is defined as a species of fish pursued for sport. Many game fish may be eaten after being caught, though increasingly anglers are practicing catch-and-release tactics to improve fish populations. A pan fish is an edible game fish that is usually no larger than the size of a frying pan, but is legal to catch and to keep. Any person, 16 to 65 years old, is required to purchase a valid Resident or NonResident Fishing Permit, whichever is applicable. the lakes Table Rock Lake Table Rock Lake offers excellent fresh water fishing for warm water species such as Large Mouth Bass, Spotted Bass, White Bass, Crappie, Channel Cat, Bream, other panfish. In addition, the cold water of the tailwaters of Table Rock Dam serve as the headwaters for Lake Taneycomo, a world class fishery for Brown and Rainbow Trout. The Lake provides excellent fishing all year long, seldom freezes, and has no closed season. Obviously the best Large Mouth fishing will be in the Spring and Fall of the year but excellent Large Mouth Small Mouth, and Spotted Bass fishing is available all year providing the angler is willing to modify their tactics to fit the changing conditions. Night fishing for Large Mouth Bass during the months of July and August can produce some nice fish. Early morning fishing for Small Mouth along the banks south of the Table Rock Dam can also provide excitement. Lake Taneycomo Lake Taneycomo's clear cold waters provide some of the finest trout fishing available anywhere in the world. The Rainbow Trout and Brown Trout that ply the waters of Lake Taneycomo provide a year round fishing experience that is exciting as well as varied. From Fly Fishing and artificial only fishing in Lake Taneycomo's Trophy Trout Area, near her Headwaters, to bait fishing outside of the Trophy Trout Waters, Lake Taneycomo offers Rainbow and Brown Trout fishing at its best all year round.

the lakes Lake Taneycomo Bull Shoals Lake offers some of the finest and most varied fresh water fishing anywhere. On average it is a warm water lake offering the standard varieties of warm water fishing such as Large Mouth Bass, Spotted Bass, White Bass, Stripers, Crappie, Channel Cat, Bream, other panfish, and Walleye. On the upper end of the Lake, near the portion of her headwaters consisting of the tailwaters of Lake Taneycomo, there is enough temperature variation to offer Trout fishing for both Rainbow and Brown Trout. It should also be pointed out that the tailwaters of the Bull Shoals Dam feed the White River and its world class Brown Trout fishery. Excellent Rainbow and Brown Trout fishing is also provided in Lake Taneycomo located above the Power Site Dam near Forsyth, Missouri. The Lake provides excellent fishing all year long, seldom freezes, and has no closed season. In the Spring of the year the upper end of the Lake is renowned for its fabulous White Bass and Walleyes fishing. Night fishing for Stripers, Walleyes, and Trout is very popular and efficient with the Lake fast developing a reputation for excellent night time Striper Fishing.
Branson Fact: The dam is 6,423 feet long and 252 feet high.
table rock lake Species Table Rock Lake contains several species of Game and Pan Fish including: Dominant Species: Largemouth, Smallmouth and Spotted Bass, White Crappie, Bluegill, Long Ear sunfish, Channel Catfish and Flat Head Catfish. Secondary Species: White Bass, Bullhead, Carp, and Black Crappie Limited Species: Walleye, Paddlefish, Warmouth, Striped Bass Fishing Techniques Spring: As the water depths rise and temperatures warm, the fish in Table Rock Lake become more active and move into shallower areas seeking spawning locations. The King's River has the most color and will warm first, followed by the James River. If targeting Largemouth Bass, look for areas with shallow wood cover in eight feet or less of water. Smallmouth and Spotted Bass will be in the clearer water from the mid-lake to the dam and can be found holding onto rock cover at 15 feet or deeper. Popular baits include: suspending jerkbaits like Smithwick Rouges or Lucky Craft Pointers, white War Eagle spinnerbaits, tight wiggling crankbaits like a Storm Wiggle Wart and small jig and craw combos such as a Jewel Eakins' Jig and Craw. Once the spawn is complete fish will move out of spawning areas and suspend on points, bluff ends and drop offs as they feed on abundant threadfin shad. Top water baits like Heddon Spook or Lucky Craft Sammy are very effective both early and late in the day. Small buzzbaits, floating worms and Yamamoto Senko are all

table rock lake productive post-spawn baits on Table Rock. On windy days a 4" single tail smoke colored grub on a Ÿ oz. head can be hard to beat on flat pea gravel points and flats. Summer: Most of the fishing on the lower end of the lake in the summer takes place well off shore. Spotted Bass are the primary target and can be caught on spoons, drop shot rigs and ž oz. Jewel football jigs. The fish will generally be found holding on the sides of deep points from 30 feet to 70 feet deep. Using highquality sonar units, fishermen will locate schools of spotted bass and drop baits directly into the school to trigger strikes. While not impossible to catch, Smallmouth become pretty tight lipped in the heat of summer and most are caught on the bottom holding tight to rock cover. Shaky head worms, Jewel spider jigs, Chompers' spider grubs and tubes work from 25 feet to 45 feet deep. Largemouth can be found in the stained water of the James and Kings rivers, 8 inch and 10 inch Berkley Power worms, Jewel Heavy Cover Football Jigs and deep diving crankbaits like DD-22's and DT-16's in chartreuse or shad colors, are the most effective baits. Look for Largemouth to be on points near main river or creek channel drops. Target isolated brush piles and standing timber to be effective. Fall: Much like the Spring, Fall is a transition time for bass on Table Rock. Fish move out of their deep water summer haunts following schools of shad as they move toward the backs of creeks in search of zooplankton blooms. Channel swing banks and points
Branson Fact: The surface area on Table Lake is an average of 47,650 acres.
table rock lake close to channel swings become very important in the fall. These areas act like holding areas for both shad and bass causing both to "bunch up" making the bass easier to catch. Productive baits include Jewel spider and football jigs, Storm Wiggle Wart crankbaits and War Eagle Spinnerbaits and buzzbaits. Look for wood cover on these types of banks in the James and Kings River areas. Mixed rock will hold Smallmouth in the lower end of the lake and Spotted bass can be found on either wood or rock cover. Winter: This can be one of the most productive times of the year for Spotted and Smallmouth bass. Both species will school together and follow large schools of threadfin shad into major creek arms and up the river arms. A quality sonar unit is crucial to find and catch these fish. Usually suspended over water from 40 feet to 150 feet deep, they use the shad as cover and a source of food. During this time of year, an effective bait of your choice will help you find the fish in strong numbers. Spoons, drop shot rigs and blade baits are your best bet and once the fish are located it is a matter of dropping the bait in front of them to trigger a strike. Fishing small jigs like an Eakins' jig or a Âź oz. buck hair jig is a good secondary pattern in the winter. Deep rocky points and bluff ends will hold all three species of bass from 10 feet to 35 feet deep.

Secondary Species: White Bass, Bullhead, Carp, and Black Crappie Limited Species: Rainbow Trout, Paddlefish, Warmouth, Striped Bass
Fishing Techniques Spring: Rising warm waters in Spring draw fish from the lower depths of Bull Shoals causing them to become more active in seeking shallow spawning locations. The colored water of the Theodosia arm will warm first followed by the larger creeks like Big Creek and the Sugarloaf Creek Arms. As the fish move, shallow specific cover becomes important to each species. Largemouth Bass tend to hold to wood cover like laydowns and brush piles. Spotted Bass will move to chunk rock points and bluff ends and Smallmouth Bass will hold on isolated rock piles and mixed pea gravel and rocky banks. Popular baits include: suspending jerkbaits like Smithwick Rouges or Lucky Craft Pointers, 4" single tailed grubs on Âź oz. jig heads, tight wiggling crankbaits like a Storm Wiggle Wart, and small jig and craw combos such as a Jewel Eakins' Jig and Craw. After the fish have spawned they will move into open water and suspend. Top water baits like Cotton Cordell Redfins, Heddon Spooks and Lucky Craft Sammys, are all very effective. Bull Shoals has a tremendous reputa

bull shoals tion for its walleye population. In early spring walleye will make a run up the White River, Theodosia Arm and some of the major creeks to spawn. When making their spawning run, walleye will "stack up" in deeper pools and channel bends, suspending jerkbaits, single tailed grubs and small crankbaits are all effective baits for these fish. Summer: Summer (especially early and late in the day) offers some of the most exciting action on Bull Shoals Lake. Schools of Spotted Bass chase shad on the surface during the low light hours of the day. Top water baits like Heddon Spooks, Lucky Craft Sammys and Cotton Cordell Redfins will all catch these aggressive bass. During the heat of the day, conditions can be much tougher. Look for fish to move out to deep ledge rock points and channel banks up to 50' deep. Jewel football and spider jigs matched with a Chompers' jig trailers, tube baits, and Carolina rigged French fries or finesse worms are all effective baits during the summer. Slowly work the bottom in these areas paying special attention to any wood or rock cover you may run into with the bait. Largemouth will tend to be in shallower areas than Smallmouth or Spotted Bass and they will hold in the large number of brush piles set by Arkansas Game and Fish Department and by individual anglers. Texas rigged Berkley Power worms and Jewel Eakins' jig and craw combos are your best bet in the heat of the day. The majority of the walleye caught during the summer are taken in the upper half of the lake by anglers trolling bottom-bouncing live night crawler rigs and jigs tipped with minnows from 20 feet to 40 feet deep.

taneycomo Species Lake Taneycomo contains several species of game and pan fish including: Dominant Species: Rainbow and German Brown Trout Secondary Species: Cutthroat Trout, Largemouth Bass, Bluegill Limited Species: Smallmouth Bass
Fishing Techniques Below the Table Rock Dam to the mouth of Fall Creek: This area is managed by the Missouri Department of Conservation as a fly fishing and artificial lure only area. In addition there is a slot limit on trout that are harvested in this area. The Specific regulations read: ―Lake Taneycomo's fishing regulations changed on March 1, 1997, when the Conservation Department established a special management area in the upper portion of the lake. The management area extends three miles, from the mouth of Fall Creek upstream to the "No Fishing" cable 760 feet below Table Rock Dam. In that area, all rainbow trout between 12 and 20 inches in total length must be released, unharmed, immediately after being caught. Fishing in this area is restricted to flies and artificial lures. Soft plastic, natural

taneycomo and prepared baits are specifically prohibited. Downstream from Fall Creek, anglers may still harvest five trout per day. All kinds of baits, lures or flies are legal. The lake wide, 20-inch minimum length limit for brown trout is still in effect.‖ The majority of anglers in this area are fly fishermen, without current from the generators at the Table Rock dam the upper portion of Taneycomo fishes like a large trout stream; pools, riffles and wood cover are all important areas to fish. Productive fly patterns can change for day to day or even hour to hour so be sure to check the reports before you go. The most reliable patterns will be scuds, sow bugs and other nymphs most of the time, but productive colors will change. Anglers with casting and spinning equipment will fish this area as well with small spinners or small twitch baits like Rapalas and Lucky Crafts. Despite the amount of fishing pressure this area receives it remains a quality fishery due to daily stocking by the Department of Conservation with trout from the Shepard of the Hills Hatchery located below the Table Rock dam. Trout Fishing from Fall Creek to Powersite dam: From Fall Creek on down stream the majority of anglers will fish live and prepared baits. While fly fishing still takes place, the majority of fisherman utilize a ―Taneycomo Drift Rig‖ with live night crawlers, red worms or assorted colors of Berkley power bait eggs and nuggets on casting or spinning equipment. Boating anglers will run up stream a few miles from their launching point and then control the drift back against the current making casts to deeper pools

taneycomo and wood cover along the banks. Productive lures in this area include twitch baits like Rapalas and Lucky Craft pointers, small spinners like Rooster Tails, Mepps, Super Dupers and Panther Martins or small crankbaits such as Norman Crappie Crankbaits or Yozuri Snap Beads. The ―Taneycomo Drift Rig‖ will also work as you drift down the lake, simply cast and allow the rig to bounce the bottom. This portion of the lake also holds all of the public and private trout docks. Most anglers fishing from the docks will fish on the bottom or with a float around the dock with either live or prepared baits. Bass Fishing on Taneycomo: One of the best kept secrets in the Ozarks is the bass fishing on Lake Taneycomo. While bass have been caught above the Downtown Branson area most bass fishing takes place in the lower end of the lake from Bull Creek near Rockaway Beach to the Powersite dam. Most of the fish are caught on either the abundant wood cover that dots the shoreline or on the ledge rock that marks the channel swing areas of the lake. Unlike the warm water lakes on either end of Taneycomo, the colder water keeps bass more active throughout the year. With this in mind Lake Taneycomo bass will chase reaction baits like spinnerbaits, buzzbaits and crankbaits for a greater portion of the year. Big bass seem to show up every year on Taneycomo, with several bass over five pounds being caught with regularity and a few over eight pounds becoming more and more prevalent. Big fish tend to be caught in the cooler months on the deeper drops close to ledge banks with Jewel Eakins‘,

taneycomo Jig, and Craw combos and football or spider jigs accounting for many each year. Boat Ramps & Shoreline Fishing The Missouri Department of Conservation and local municipalities maintain the limited number of boat ramps on Lake Taneycomo. While several of the resorts maintain ramps as well they are generally for the use of their guests only. Shore fishing is also available at these locations offering either bank, pier or wading access.
