I CREATED A DETAIL SECTION THROUGH ONE OF THE TUNNNEL SPACES AND THE MAIN GALLERY WITH RAMP, TO SHOW MATERIALITY AND CONSTRUCTION, I BELIEVE THIS SECTION IS GOOD FOR NOT ONLY SHOWING CONSTRUCTION, BUT ALSO PORTRAYS MY TECHTONIC PRINCIPALS OF HEAVY/LIGHT AND GIVES A GOOD ATMOSPHERE OF THE SPACE. HOWEVER THE ROOF ON THIS DRAWING IS NOT RIGHT, AS I HAVE DRAWN IT TOO THIN FOR THE SCHEME WHEN IN REALITY TO BE STRUCTURALLY SOUND IT WOULD HAVE TO BE MUCH THICKER.

TECTONIC BOARD _PRAXIS I BASED MY MODEL, ON A CONCEPT FOR MY FACADE OF THE BUILDING AND THE IDEA OF FUTURE GROWTH OF THE SCHEME BASED ON THE PARAMETRIC GROWTH OF CORAL. THE FACADE IS SEEN REPRESENTED AS A SEAMLESS SKIN ENGULFING THE BUILDING FOREVER GROWING IN NEW LAYERS AND CREATING NEW INTERCONNECTED BRANCHES WHICH CAN INCASE FRESH DWELLING AND COMMERCIAL CENTERS ASWELL ASWELL AS SUPPORTING VERTICAL GARDEN ECOSYSTEMS THROUGH THE WOODEN CLAD SLOTS. THE IDEA IS TO CREATE AN ORGANIC GROWTH MODEL AS OPPOSED TO AN GRID /PLANNED ONE SO THAT JUST LIKE CORAL MY HOUSING SCHEME WILL ONLY EXPAND WHEN DEMAND DICTATES OR THE RIGHT RESOURCES ARE IN SITU.

_ECOLOGIES OF HOUSESCAPES[CARDIFF]_PROJECT ANALYSIS

I REALLY ENJOYED THIS PROJECT, PARTICULARY THE WAY THAT IT W INFLUENCED THE FORM, AND SOCIAL CONCEPTS BEHIND MY DESIGN - T RED BY THE DIGITAL STUDY OF CORAL BRANCHING PATTERS], AND THE CREATING A SAFE AND SECURE COMMUNITY FOR THE OLDER GENERATIO CREATED AND FEEL THAT IT WOULD HAVE BEEN SUCESSFUL ONLY THE [ONLY TWO STORIES ALTHOUGH ROOM FOR ORGANIC GROWTH] WAS SU COMPLEX OPPOSITE. THIS COULD HAVE BEEN AVOIDED IF I HAD DESIGN STAGE OF THE PROJECT.EXPLORING AND REASERCHING MY MAIN DWELLING UNIT (THE 1+ UNIT) I USED THE LAN 72 THE MEDETRERANIAN ‘ECHOPPE’ DWELLING UNITS TO USE AS OF USEUABLE ‘FLEXABLE SPACE’ AND THE LONG CORRIDOR R IT. DURING THIS PROJECT I WOULD HAVE DEFINATELY LIK SCHEME, SOMETHING I ONLY BRIEFLY TOUCEHD ON WITH SUSTAINABLE MATERIALS THAT COULD BE TRANSPORTED IDEA OF THE ADAPTABLE FACADE, VIA REASERCHING D HOWEVER I WOULD HAVE LIKED TO EXPLOR PHREHAPS COME OF WITH SOME SCHEME THAT I ONE O IS LI

WAS STRUCTURED, I FELL LIKE THE STUDY INTO NATURAL FORMS REALLY THE IDEA OF ADAPTABILITY AND ORGANIC GROWTH [FACADE], THE FORM [INSPIR SOCIAL IDEA OF COMMUNITY [LOOKING AT THE MICROCLIMATE POCKETS AND ON IN THE CITY CENTER.] I REALLY LIKED THE HOUSING SCHEME THAT I E CONTEXT OF THE SCHEME WAS TOTALLY WRONG FOR THE SCHEME. THE SCHEME URROUNDED AND OVERSHADOWED BY THE HIGH RISE BUILDINGS OF THE CINEMA DRAWN MORE CONTEXT IN MY SECTIONS AND MODELS EARLIER ON IN THE DIFFERENT HOUSING TYPOLOGIES ALSO REALLY INFLUENCED MY DESIGN, FOR COLLECTIVE HOUSING UNITS AS A PRECEDENT, AND THEN FURTHER REASERCHED A TYPOLOGY, SOME OF THE FEATURES THAT I DREW FROM THIS WERE THE IDEAS RUNNING ALONG THE UNIT TO A LARGE VIEW TO THE OUTSIDE AT THE END OF KED TO HAVE MORE TIME TO EXPLORE THE FACADE AND MATERIALITY OF THE THE IDEA OF THE ‘ADAPTABLE FACADE’ AND REASERCHING DIFFERNT ECOLOGICALLY VIA THE NEARBY TRAIN NETWORK SYSTEM. I EXPLORED THE DIFFERENT ‘GREEN WALLS’ SUCH AS THE EAT ME WALL BY ANDREW HAEUMANN. THE TECHNOLOGY OF HOW THIS WALL WOULD ACTUALLY WORK FURTHER, AND E DIFFERENT TECHTONIC PROTOTYPES FOR THE PANELS. ANOTHER ASPECT OF MY I WOULD HAVE LIKED TO REDESIGN IS THE HOUSING TYPOLOGIES. ALTHOUGH OF THE MAIN CONCEPTES OF MY SCHEME GAINED FROM STUDYING CORAL GROWTH S THE IDEA OF ADAPTABILITY, AND WITH ADAPTABILITY RANDOMNESS. I FEEL IKE THE RANDOMNESS OF THE SCHEME WOULD BE INPRACTICAL IN REALITY ESPECIALLY ON OUR PRIME SITE IN THE CITY CENTER, URBAN GROUWTH SHOULD BE PLANNED OTHERWIZE IT WOULD LEAD TO SPRAWL, AND HAVING EACH DWELLING UNIT WITH DIFFERENT FORMS, MAY APPEAR ATTRACTIVE BUT WOULD BE EXPENSIVE AND INPRACTICAL TO BUILD AND PLAN. GRAPHICALLY I THINK THAT I REPRESENTED MY SCHEME WELL WITH EASY TO READ DRAWINGS THAT CAPTURED THE ESSENCE OF THE SCHEME. IDEALLY I WOULD HAVE LIKED TO HAVE SOME FURTHER INTERIOR STUDYS AND PHREHAPS SOME PERSPECTIVES/AXONOMETRICS OF THE SITE . HOWEVER I ALSO THINK THAT THE PHOTOGRAPHS OF MY MODELS [THE 1_50 DWELLING UNIT MODEL IN PARTICULAR] GAVE A GOOD IDEA OF ATMOSPHERE OF THE SCHEME, AND MY DIGITAL PROCESSING IMAGE ALSO GAVE A GOOD IDEA OF THE FELL OF THE PUBLIC SPACE SURROUNDING THE SCHEME.

_WORK PROJECTS OVER THE SUMMER I WORKED FOR LOCAL PRACTICE BEANLAND ASSOCIATES, FOR 2 MONTHS, DOING VARIUS PROJECTS. MY MAIN PROJECT WAS TO DESIGN A BROCHURE FOR THE PRACTICE AS SEEN ON THIS PAGE. I ALSO HAD TO DRAW UP AND ALTER PLANS AND SECTIONS FOR THE PRACTICE ON AUTOCAD, AND PHOTOGRAPH AND MEASURE SITES.
