‘Unparalleled’ protection
by Janes
SVOS (Stand N9-310) is showing its latest Perun (4x4), which is being described by the company as a multipurpose vehicle that would typically be used by special forces and has ''an unparalleled protection level and powerful drivetrain''.
According to the company, Perun has been developed to address the global market and to provide the occupants with a high level of protection from blast and ballistic attack. This is stated to have been proven in sample hits, full scope blast tests and simulation and is currently being marketed in an open-top version with rollover protection. A fully enclosed version expected in the very near future.

Armament would depend on the end user, but would typically consist of a ring-mounted 12.7mm machine gun (MG) or a 40mm automatic grenade launcher, and up to four 7.62mm MGs would provide suppressive fire through 360°.
The vehicle is also provided with banks of Rheinmetall Rosy smoke grenade launchers and a front-mounted winch.
The vehicle on show at DSEI is also fitted with the Dutch Microflown AVISA gunshot detector, which can rapidly alert the crew to an incoming threat and enable the crew to engage the target or take evasive action.
In addition, the Perun is fitted with non-lethal flash blinding lights manufactured by BE1 Defence Technologies of Israel.
According to Jaroslav Cerny, general director at SVOS, ''these lights can be used for multiple tasks, from crowd or suspicious by-passers control to attacker approach elimination during urban combat operations up to protection against snipers in any terrain''.
