RIVER VALLEY ARTS COMMUNITY CENTRE
CONCEPT: The River Valley Arts Community Centre is a place for people to relax and feel welcome by using nature to bring relaxation. Nature will connect to the institution through inspiring art, the natural motion of the body of dance, and the organic shapes produced from pottery. PROJECT DETAIL: The project covers the design process from planning and design through design presentation. It is a retro fit project which will accommodate an existing school building into an arts centre for community programs in the visual arts and dance. REQUIREMENTS: Base Building: ◆ all interior walls, finish flooring, and non-structural components are stripped ◆ barrier-free standards for all egress, circulation, and washrooms Room Requirements: ◆ welcoming main entryway ◆ administrative offices ◆ 4 types of ceramic studios ◆ 3 art studios ◆ 2 dance room ◆ classrooms

ACCENT HOTEL
CONCEPT: Accent is a hotel that is mainly for business travelers to have a place for them to feel comfortable in an elegant background. The concept of layering and flow is used to make the hotel feel fluent and elegant. The grand color scheme for the hotel is purple and white. PROJECT DETAILS: The client is thinking of converting an existing building into a small hotel (6 stories or less) and would like some preliminary planning prepared to determine the feasibility of the project for budget preparation. REQUIREMENTS: ◆ each suite should feature abundant natural light ◆ corridors should be wide enough to accommodate linen carts, wheelchairs, and people ◆ all code compliance will meet the Alberta Building Code ◆ needs to meet 4 star rating minimally ◆ need to have minimum 1 junior barrier-free suite, 1 deluxe suite, and 1 king suite on each floor
