programmatic elements contained within the site are designed to share one common language rather than appearing as separate entities. food court, shopping center, performance space, and parking garage are integrated into each other, creating fluid transitional moments through surface treatment and flow of interstitial spaces.

examining and reviving the declined american diner typology in downtown syracuse. situated at an island junction of intersecting highway routes, the diner is a pit stop for visitors, offering hospitality and long strip windows for viewing the ongoing, constant traffic. seating spaces are segmented into zones of operation−during daylight hours, the night section is closed off and vice versa−allowing for maintenance around the clock. a bar pit acts as a mediating point of transition between the two zones and provides a more social setting for visitors.

adaptive envelope system

manhattan, ny fourth year studio in design collaboration with david ascher

re-skinning 1095 avenue of the americas in midtown manhattan in a manner that presents a sustainable, efficient, and innovative improvement in facade technology. this series of varying office and conference room sizes & heights framed by deep pod shells serve as light shelves that diffuse natural light into the core of the building, while creating hollow spaces between rooms for passive ventilation which allow stack effect within the building’s dead spaces to travel through the building and be released out through the roof.
