Hello, Thank you for your continued interest and participation in Bowling Green State University’s Job Location and Development (JLD) program. By posting jobs, attending our Summer Job Fair, or participating in recruitment activities, your organization has contributed to the earnings, learning, and professional growth of BGSU students. I have enclosed our annual newsletter so that you can read about our recent activities and make recruiting plans for the 2014-2015 academic year. To ensure the continued federal financial support for the JLD program, BGSU is required to annually report the number of students for whom jobs were located or developed as well as students’ estimated earnings from those jobs. We ask for your assistance in providing information regarding the BGSU students hired by your organization to work on a part-time or seasonal basis at your organization during the past fiscal year as a result of your partnership (posting jobs, attending the Summer Job Fair, or recruiting on campus) with BGSU. Specific names or individual earning amounts are not required; only your best estimates. We ask for this information because it is critical to our continued funding for JLD services. Your response helps us affirm the value of our work and ensures that we can continue to provide students with access to excellent employment and learning opportunities and provide employers with high-quality and personalized services. By employing BGSU students, you do more than simply meet your staffing needs and help our students pay their college-related expenses. You provide opportunities for students to practice the concepts they have acquired in the classroom and develop work skills available only through hands-on experience. For the 2013–2014 year, JLD employers reported hiring 1,408 BGSU students with more than $5.4 million in estimated earnings! Please note that we are available all throughout the year to assist with your recruiting needs. On behalf of Student Employment Services, the Job Location and Development Program, and our students, thank you for your cooperation, continued support, and employment of BGSU students. Have a wonderful summer! Sincerely, y

Dawn Chong, Director of of Student S Employment Services

STUDENT EMPLOYMENT NEWS…

JLD

JOB L O CA TIO N and D EVEL O P M E N T

The Job Location & Development Program (JLD) continues to provide off-campus employers with access to qualified, motivated, and career focused BGSU students to fill part-time and seasonal vacancies. Last year, JLD employers reported hiring 1,408 BGSU students with estimated earnings of $5.4 million. Thank you so much for your continued support! With your help, we surpassed $50 million in reported estimated student earnings in 2013! BGSU started its JLD program in April 2000 and to date, our JLD employers reported hiring 15,537 BGSU students with $54.7 million in estimated earnings. Perhaps your organization posted a job in WorkNet, attended our Summer Job Fair or recruited on campus this past year. Now we request that you take a minute to complete our JLD Data Collection Form and let us know the estimated number of BGSU students hired and their estimated earnings from July 2013 - June 2014. By returning your information by July 31, 2014 you will help to ensure the continuation of the JLD Program and its services. We feel strongly that BGSU students continue to be a productive component of the labor force. For many students finding a part time or seasonal job is an opportunity for students to learn valuable transferable skills. As supervisors, you are a model for the development of solid work habits such as dependability, cooperation and efficiency. Supervisors often bridge the gap between home, the classroom, and the “real world.” One important thing to remember is that a little bit of praise and encouragement can go a long way! We look forward to working with you to increase the number of part time and seasonal jobs opportunities, not only in Bowling Green, but surrounding communities and even summer jobs across the country. If you have any questions or suggestions, please call us at 419-372-2865. Wishing you a safe and enjoyable summer!
