Working Together According to the federal Higher Education Opportunity Act (HEOA) Faculty (or others who select course materials at an institution of higher education receiving federal financial assistance) are to make available to a college bookstore the most accurate information available regarding the course schedule. For each course offered, the ISBN, retail price, number of students enrolled in the course, and the maximum student enrollment for the course should also be provided. It also requires each campus bookstore at any public college or university to post in its store or on its website a disclosure of its retail pricing policy on new and used textbooks. We are dependent on you, the faculty to provide us with this information, so we are able to in turn provide it to our students via our website. Thank you for helping us get this accomplished.

Attached are the textbook adoption forms for the next term. Please return the forms to the bookstore by April 1st. This will allow us to develop a list of textbooks that we can buy back from the students during finals week. It also allows us to begin searching for used books which benefits the students. On the forms, please fill in the enrolment estimate, as well as the text and class information, and return to the bookstore. Feel free to make a copy for your records. Please try to be as accurate as possible in estimating course enrolments. Please indicate clearly whether a textbook is required or optional. Unless you assign work from a textbook or study guide, it should be coded as an optional text. If no textbook will be used, please write "NO TEXT" on the form and return it to the bookstore. You may always add a textbook at a later date.
Why are adoptions due so early? To put it simply, the earlier we have the course information, the earlier we can start looking for used books. There are a limited number of used books out there, and every college textbook store is trying to get their hands on them. Also, if there is an issue with the text you are wanting to use, the earlier we get the information, the better chance we have of resolving the issue, and helping you find the best possible solution.
You may also list any supplies your students will be required to use, such as lab books, scantrons, calculators, art supplies, computer disks, lab kits, etc. Also, if you are in charge of a department, please make sure your part time and adjunct faculty have access to this form.
