Introduction The fiction of UK unemployment welfare generosity The U.K. is the most ungenerous country out of all advanced European economies in giving sufficient money to the unemployed. The demonization of Britain‟s unemployed and the non-generosity of British unemployment benefits MUST STOP. Britain‟s unemployed are not cheating the taxpayer out of money but are being cheated out of satisfactory compensation money as compared to the amounts distributed in other advanced economies. The big lie is that the unemployed are the ungrateful recipients, and even abusers, of British taxpayer‟s money when in reality they do not get enough taxpayers money. The change the British unemployment benefit welfare should be subjected to is one where the amount is expanded by a factor of 3 as to bring it to comparable Spanish, Irish, French and Australian levels. Societies which do not pay enough attention to security, especially the security of their weaker members, eventually suffer a destructive backlash. Aspects of Britain‟s jobless benefit welfare system that should be improved immediately:  The jobcentre should not humiliate the jobseeker. If the jobseeker has a grievance with the way (s)he has been treated, they can lodge a complaint.  Jobcentre advisors, who are often being accused of treating jobseekers with contempt, should be disciplined.  The practice of „signing on‟ every two weeks should be abolished as this causes unnecessary administrative workload for the „advisors‟. It should be replaced with a once-a-month declaration system that one is still looking for a job  The amounts that are given to the jobless should be multiplied as opposed to being reduced;  The government should consider including „Holiday allowance‟ money for once a year for the jobseeker so that he or she can re-charge in finding a job. This is not a joke: in countries such as the Netherlands this is considered a normal practice.

 So-called devastating “sanctions “ in regard to unemployment benefit payment must be STOPPED for the following reasons: a. UK unemployment benefits are too insufficient to begin with; b. UK unemployment benefits are the sole source of income for the jobless. In other words, they do have nothing else to survive on; c. UK unemployment benefits happen to be the lowest out of all advanced European economies; d. Financially sanctioning the most deprived in society, which the unemployed are, is morally repugnant. e. One of the reasons we pay taxes is to sustain a welfare state. If there is no welfare state, there is NO good reason to pay taxes. f. We should have only politicians that defend and expand the welfare state Why are British jobseekers only receiving 33.7% and 36.4% of the amounts French and Australian jobseekers receiving in benefits from the state?

Why are jobless Britons not livid and revolting against it?
