Supporting Students with Hearing Loss in Mainstream Educational Settings Join us on Friday, May 3, 2013 in Sturbridge, MA for a special day-long training designed for speech and language pathologists. Other professionals, including teachers of the deaf, early intervention providers and audiologists, and parents of children with hearing loss are also welcome. ASHA credits are available (pending approval).

Can a Deaf Child Really Listen? Taking the Mystery Out of Hearing Loss
This workshop provides an overview of auditory brain development, its impact on spoken language development and the role that parents and professional teams play in supporting the development of listening and spoken language in children with hearing loss. What’s App’ening? Using Tablet Technology to Enhance Speech, Language and Listening Abilities for Students with Hearing Loss
This workshop covers ways to use apps and technology to motivate and stimulate speech, language and listening for toddlers, preschool and elementary students with hearing loss. Techniques on how to use applications and adapt them in order to meet speech, receptive and expressive language, and auditory goals will be discussed. Presenters will model and discuss their favorite apps and participants will share information on the apps they are using. Please bring your iPad or smart tablet to the seminar if possible!
