Marilyn Kay Hatcher (nee Schweer), aged 79, passed away on August 1, 2024, in Joshua, Texas. Born on December 15, 1944, in Butler, Missouri, she lived a life marked by compassion, dedication, and a deep commitment to her family and community.
Marilyn graduated from Appleton City High School and spent her early years focusing on raising her children, which she often described as her greatest joy. After her children had all left for college, she transitioned into a professional role as an accounts receivable specialist for the federal government, a position she held in both Germany and Fort Worth, Texas.
Throughout her life, Marilyn was an active member of every church community she joined with her husband, Kent Hatcher, with whom she shared 18 moves during their marriage. Their final church home was the Southside Church of Christ in Fort Worth, Texas, where Marilyn was deeply involved, particularly in the Hope Ministry and Pantry Ministry, through which she provided food and clothing to those in need.
Marilyn's hobbies included crafting and nurturing her plants, which were her true love. Her creative spirit and green thumb brought beauty and warmth to her home and community.
She is survived by her sons, Craig and Stan Hatcher (Donna); daughter, Brenda Redmon (Jimmy); grandchildren, Andy Hatcher (Jasie), Erin Hatcher, Emilie Roemer (Braden), and Anna Hatcher; and great-granddaughter, Jodie Ray Hatcher. Marilyn was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Kent Hatcher; her parents, Hugo and Marie Schweer; and her sister, Evonne Jones.
A service to celebrate Marilyn's life will be held on Saturday, August 10, 2024, at 11 :00 AM at the Southside Church of Christ, 2101 Hemphill Street, Fort Worth, Texas 76110.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts to honor Marilyn's legacy and support the pantry ministry at Southside can be made online at www.sscofc.org or mailed to Southside Church of Christ, 2101 Hemphill Street, Fort Worth, Texas 76110.

Matthew25:35-40
For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, 36 I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.’
37 “Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? 38 When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? 39 When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?’
40 “The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’
