Opened Suspected Child Abuse & Neglect Center in Sacred Heart Complex and developed the Vanessa Behan Crisis Nursery. 1988-89

Foster Santa Breakfast underwritten by the Kalispel Indian Tribe and Northern Qwest Casino.

JLS established Spokane Art School Project.

Established a clinic for speech disorders as well as for emotionally disturbed children.

Unveiled Centennial Children’s Art Project: The Red Wagon sculpture and play structure in Riverfront Park.

Foster Family Appreciation and Enrichment program adopted and Foster Santa Breakfast developed for foster children and their families.

Impact Spokane Done-in-a-Day projects established.

Cofounded the Crosswalk program with Volunteers of America addressing homelessness and runaways.

During World War II the JLS worked with the National Red Cross to heed the call.

First JLS Golf Exhibition with Arnold Palmer netting $54,878.

Junior League of

Sponsored by Portland and Tacoma, the Junior Club was admitted to the Association of the Junior Leagues of America, Inc. and at that time changed its name to the Junior League of Spokane. It was the eightieth Junior League to join the Association.

Adopted ESCAPE, Education for Sexual Child Abuse Prevention.

Initiated Student Art Trooping, Morning Star Boys Ranch Case Aide program and Spokane Concerts for young people. 1971

Headquarters moved to Davenport Hotel.

Began Spokane’s first community children’s theater and was formally incorporated as the Junior League of Spokane.
