The Spring Selection online heifer and embryro auction

We are always looking for new ways to share our genetics and help the Limousin breed continue to grow and progress. This sale represents an opportunity to access genetics from the very heart of the Summit Livestock program. Our heifer offering has been selected direct from our replacement pen – females of this calibre are not often offered for sale. Many of these heifers are only yearlings, so would be great potential show prospects for next year. The embryos offered represent a cross section of the genetics we are currently utilising within our program. We have created these joinings for our program to make cows – we are certain these genetics will perform for you. We have decided to go with an online format for this sale to make it accessible for everyone as we understand it can be difficult to get away, so you can bid via Auctionsplus from the comfort of your home/tractor or yards! We are excited to be hosting our first female & genetics sale and we hope to expand the Spring Selection Sale in the future, to include offerings from our clients and friends. Sale Details The Spring Selection Online Heifer & Embryo Sale will be held online via Auctionsplus (www.auctionsplus.com.au). Videos and photos of all lots will be available on the sale listing on Auctionsplus. Prior inspections are welcome by appointment with the vendors or their agents. Lots will be sold via Helmsman Auction. The sale will open on 9am Sunday 29th September and will run until 7pm on Tuesday 1st October, the timer will then take control of the auction. When the auction opens, all lots are on the market simultaneously. You can bid on any lot, regardless of lot number. Buyers Registration & Sale Conditions Buyers will be required to register as a bidder on Auctionsplus. Please note, any first time users will need to complete the buyer induction which takes approximately 30 minutes to complete online. Please ensure you give yourself enough time to complete this prior to the sale.

Sale Information Herd Health Summit Livestock is JBAS score 6. All heifers have been drenched & vaccinated with Bomectin & 7in1. They have all been tested negative for pestivirus. All lots and embryo joinings are Protoporphyria-free.

Supplementary Information Supplementary sheets will be available via Auctionsplus with any updated information on the sale offering. All embryos offered are GRADE ONE. We offer a 50% pregnancy guarantee on all embryo packages if implanted by an agreed technician. Some embryos are frozen in ethylene-glycol (direct thaw) and others are frozen in glycerol. Please check supplementary sheet for confirmation. All BREEDPLAN data published in this catalogue is from the August 2019 Limousin GROUP BREEDPLAN run.

Stud transfers All animals are registered with the Australian Limousins Breeders Society. They are all eligible for Live lots will be sold on a per head basis. Explanation of Estimated Breeding Values

An Estimated Breeding Value (EBV) is an estimate of the genetic merit of that animal for each trait measured. EBVs are provided for the following traits:

Scrotal Size: indicates whether the bull will produce sons with above average or below average scrotal sizes.

Gestation Length: ranks sires for the time between conception and the birth of a Eye Muscle Area: ranks animals for eye muscle area measured at the 12th rib on calf. Shorter gestation is indicated by negative EBVs and longer by positive EBVs. a 300kg carcase. Birth Weight: indicates the genetic potential for birth weight. Positive EBVs indicate higher birth weights and negative EBVs indicate lower birth weights of progeny. Calving Ease Direct: indicates the influence of the sire on calving ease. Sires with positive EBVs for calving ease will increase calving ease and sires with negative EBVs will decrease calving ease.

Rib Fat: ranks animals for rib fat depth at the 12th rib on a 300kg carcase Rump Fat: ranks animals for fat depth at the p8 site on the rump on a 300kg carcase. Intra Muscular Fat: ranks animals for the percentage of intramuscular fat at the 12th rib of a 300kg carcase.

Milk: a key component of fast growth to weaning is the dam’s maternal Docility: is expressed as the increase or decrease in the percentage of performance. A bull with a high milk EBV should produce daughters which milk progeny that will be scored as docile (score 1 or 2). Positive EBVs indicate a well. higher proportion of progeny that will be scored as docile and negative EBVs indicate a lower percentage of progeny being scored as docile. 200, 400 & 600 Day Weight: give us an estimation of the animal’s genetic potential for growth. Comparing EBVs The EBVs for Limousins cannot be compared with EBVs for animal of other breeds.
