BURSTING WITH EXPECTATIONS The CD Congress Centre Ljubljana proudly announces that 2015 is a great congress year. For its part alone, CD is hosting 25 international meetings and congress-‐related events. Although all of them are special, one is unique. We would like to bring your attention to “EUPSA 2015”, the 16th European Congress of Paediatric Surgery “SLOVENIA 2015”, which is to take place in CD between 17 and 20 June. Owing to the charismatic and dedicated Congress Chairman, Prof. Silvo LIPOVŠEK, MD FEBPS, Head of the Department of Paediatric Surgery at the University Medical Center Maribor and representative for Slovenia in WOFAPS (World Federation of Associations of Pediatric Surgery), the paediatric surgery in Slovenia has been just recently recognised as a specialty. As Prof. Lipovšek always says, “Children are not little adults. They deserve a specialised approach which must be provided by fully dedicated and specially trained surgeons to solve the problems of this critical, sensitive and delicate field”. Besides working to achieve the recognition of Paediatric Surgery as a specialty, Prof. Lipovšek has been dedicated to preparing and training “the first generation of Paediatric Surgeons” of Slovenia. The “CD Congress Centre Ljubljana” has been involved in preparing for the EUPSA annual congress since 2010.

Announcing the appointment, Miha Kovačič, Director of the Slovenian Convention Bureau, said “After a decade of promoting and positioning of Slovenia as a MICE destination it is time to put in the higher gear. Now we want SoolNua to take us to the next level.” Delaney and Gilligan have immense industry experience and expertise and can help us craft a compelling story for Slovenia as a MICE destination”. SoolNua Managing Partner, Patrick Delaney stated “We started as a DMC in Ireland and, from the outset, realized our first challenge was to build destination awareness. Slovenia has made great strides as a MICE destination but remains a shy, hidden gem. It needs to amplify its voice and tell its wonderful story with confidence and conviction. We are truly privileged to play a part in bringing this about”. Gilligan added “During our recent trips to Slovenia we’ve been impressed by the quality of the MICE product. Slovenia may be small country but it offers extraordinary variety from city to countryside and mountain to maritime. Most of all there’s a palpable energy about the place, an easy friendliness in its people, a sense of welcome, a can-‐do attitude. As MICE buyers look increasingly for experiential authenticity, Slovenia is destined to emerge strongly”.
Established in early 2014 by Patrick Delaney and Pádraic Gilligan, SoolNua works with destinations, hotels and venues on MICE related matters including strategy, marketing and training. Delaney and Gilligan began working together in 1994 as Delaney Marketing Consultants. Delaney Marketing acquired Ovation in 2001 and became Ireland’s largest destination, conference and event management company with 60 team members over 3 locations. In 2007 Ovation was acquired by MCI. Delaney and Gilligan joined the Board of Directors at MCI and established MCI’s destination services division, Ovation Global DMC with offices at 120 locations worldwide.
