GRAVENHURST OPERA HOUSE 295 MUSKOKA RD S.

Parking, Fully Accessible, Washrooms, Guided Tours Built in 1901, the Opera House remains a bustling cultural centre in the core of Gravenhurst’s historic downtown. In 1934, an actor, John Holden and his Good Companions presented the first of what would put Muskoka on the map as the birthplace of summer theatre in Canada. With a variety of events throughout all four seasons, the Gravenhurst Opera House continues to be “A Tradition Worth Coming Back for!”

Parking, Washrooms, Accessible. Kick off Doors Open Gravenhurst at one of the few remaining buildings from the Sanatorium age in Gravenhurst. Massey Hall, an original building of the Muskoka Free Sanatorium for Consumptives, was built in 1914-15 as an auditorium and recreation hall for patients & staff. The San property was acquired by the Office of the Fire Marshal in 1957, and the hall was renamed Scott Hall in honour of former Fire Marshal W.J. Scott. See displays related to the Free Hospital as well as the Ontario Fire College within this beautiful century-old wood-panelled building. BETHUNE MEMORIAL HOUSE NATIONAL HISTORIC SITE 297 JOHN ST N.

Malcolm Norman Bethune became the minister of Knox in 1889, and the next year his son Norman was born here. The Bethune family remained in Gravenhurst until 1893. It is a two bay ambulance station featuring accommodation for first responder teams. Visit this unique location and see how an ambulance station functions from day to day. HERITAGE BOATWORKS 185 CHEROKEE LANE

Parking, Fully accessible, Guided Tours. Observe traditional Muskoka boat building of the early 1900s as a group of dedicated volunteers work to restore a variety of wooden boats and canoes. Admire the restoration work these talented people have already completed. They demonstrate the craftsmanship that was a hallmark of the famous boat-building workshops throughout Muskoka. Parking, Fully Accessible, Washrooms, Guided Tours. The Sawdust City Brewing Company is dedicated to the art and science of creating exceptional craft beers. While they produce traditional ales in different styles, there is nothing traditional about the flavour. Join brewmaster Sam Corbeil and his talented team and learn about how these award-winning beers are produced. Sawdust City has turned a former retail chain into a cornerstone of the community. When in Gravenhurst, be sure to visit the Giant Yellow Muskoka Chair.

TERENCE HAIGHT CARNEGIE CENTRE 275 MUSKOKA RD S.

Parking, Fully Accessible, Washrooms, Self Guided Tours. Opened in 1923, this building was one of the last Carnegie libraries to built in North America. In 2011, Terence Haight donated over a million dollars to Gravenhurst, developed into the Haight Endowment fund, to be used for community priorities. Parking, Fully accessible, Washrooms, Guided Tours. Enjoy a history walk of Muskoka Wharf at 10 am, 12 pm, 2 pm. Leaving from Muskoka Discovery Centre (formerly Muskoka Boat and Heritage Centre). Be sure to check out the Gravenhurst Sanatorium display on site . All activities are outdoors.
