TOWN NOTICES
Hours: Mon-Fri
8:30 am - 4:30 pm
DID YOU KNOW? IT’S THE LAW! The Ontario Fire Code defines an owner as “any person, firm or corporation having control over any portion of the building or property under consideration and includes the persons in the building or property”. One of the objectives of the Ontario Fire Code is to limit the probability that a person in or adjacent to the building or the facility will be exposed to an unacceptable risk of injury due to hazards by being delayed or impeded from moving to a safe place during a fire emergency. Sentence 2.7.1.7.(1) of the Ontario Fire Code states that a means of egress must be maintained in good repair and free of obstructions. A means of egress is considered as the continuous path from any point in the building, through the building to a safe place outside of the building, and includes exits.
Celebrate Everything Winter With Us!
Exits must be kept clear of all obstructions and combustible materials on the interior of the building at all times. Exit doors must be able to open easily, without specialized knowledge, tools or keys. Exits must also be kept clear of snow and other materials on the exterior of the building in order to allow persons in the building a safe evacuation route to the outside and away from the building. This community safety message is provided as a courtesy by the Town of Gravenhurst. For more information please contact the Gravenhurst Fire Department, Fire Prevention Division at 705-697-3414.
