BE PREPARED FOR EXTREME COLD In Winter, the need to plan for extremely cold temperatures is a must as extreme cold temperatures combined with wind chills can make it even more unbearable. Bitter cold & winter storms kill more people than the number of Canadians killed by tornadoes, thunderstorms, lightning, floods and hurricanes combined. PUBLIC NOTICE - ZONING BYLAW AMENDMENTS TAKE NOTICE THAT the Council of the Corporation of the Town of Gravenhurst will hold a Public Hearing on February 27th, 2018, at 5:00 p.m. in Council Chambers, 3-5 Pineridge Gate, Gravenhurst, Ontario P1P 1Z3. THE PURPOSE of the Public Hearing will be to consider proposed amendments to Zoning By-law 10-04, as amended of the Town of Gravenhurst pursuant to the provisions of Section 34 of The Planning Act, R.S.O. 1990, Chapter P.13. ANY PERSON OR AGENCY may attend the Public Hearing and/or make written or verbal representations either in support of or in opposition to the Proposed By-law. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION is available for review at the Town of Gravenhurst Municipal Offices during office hours. For further information, please contact Katie Kirton, Manager of Planning Services. IF A PERSON OR PUBLIC BODY that files an appeal of a decision of the Town of Gravenhurst in respect of the proposed Zoning By-law does not make oral submissions at a public meeting or make written submissions to the Town of Gravenhurst before the proposed zoning by-law is adopted, the Ontario Municipal Board may dismiss all or part of the appeal. PURPOSE AND EFFECT OF THE PROPOSED ZONING BY-LAW On December 20th, 2016 the Town adopted the new Official Plan. The Plan was approved by the District Municipality of Muskoka on May 15th, 2017. The Town of Gravenhurst has initiated an update to Zoning By-Law 10-04, as amended, in order to bring the Zoning By-law into conformity with the policies of the new Official Plan. Changes to the By-law generally include but are not limited to the following: • • • •
Allowing a Sleeping Cabin to be located in the second storey of a Garage; Allowing a second Sleeping Cabin where lots are over 2.0 hectares in area; Allowing two-storey Boathouses on lots fronting on Lake Muskoka with more than 90.0 metres of frontage; and Additional technical revisions.
It is the Towns intention to update the Zoning By-law through a number of By-law updates.
