GRAVENHURST TOWN NOTICES

BBQ SEASON SAFETY

PUBLIC NOTICE

MADE IN CANADA

Spring has finally sprung, the bbq’s will soon be getting fired up!

Town Buildings Town Office will bewill be closed on Good Friday, April 3 and closed on Good Friday, Monday, April 6 AprilEaster 3 and Easter

Your Gravenhurst fire fighters have some bbq fire safety tips to keep you and your family safe this spring; Before you fire up that bbq, inspect all the burner ports to make sure they are free from rust, dirt and cobwebs. Check cylinder and hose connections for leaks by brushing with a 50/50 mix of soap and water. Rising bubbles when you turn on the valve indicate a leak. Tighten the connections or repair the hoses. When lighting the grill, ALWAYS have the lid open. Open the valve on the cylinder, then the valves on the bbq, and light the burner using the igniter button. If there is not an igniter button, use a long bbq match through the side burner hole, and light the match before you turn on the bbq fuel. Transport propane cylinders safely by placing them in a secure upright position with the safety valve on top. It is preferable to transport cylinders on the floor of the passenger compartment with the vehicles windows open at all times. NEVER use or store a propane barbecue indoors or in any enclosed space, including a garage. Lastly, make sure that you have working smoke alarms and a practiced home escape plan! 2015 REDUCED LOAD PERIOD Town of Gravenhurst

Now until May 31, 2015 Bylaw: 2009-019 During the spring thaw period, some roads cannot withstand heavy vehicle loads. Depending on the progression of the thaw, restrictions can come into effect quickly, sometimes with only a few days notice. Once the pavement strength has been restored, the load restrictions are removed. To ensure the protection of certain roads the Town of Gravenhurst puts a weight restriction of 5 tonnes per axle on the roads under the Towns jurisdiction. It is advisable that interested parties should make appropriate arrangements prior to the weight restriction period, which is now in effect and usually lasts until mid May. Any deviations to this must strictly adhere to the exceptions under the Highway Traffic Act. 2015 Reduced Load Period – Town of Gravenhurst - March 17, 2015 to May 31, 2015.
