Now that the cottage is somewhat open for the season and the smoke alarms and carbon monoxide alarms have been thoroughly cleaned, vacuumed and tested and other interior chores completed, outdoors is where you want to be. As much as we want to rest and relax while at the cottage, outdoor chores do not go away so quickly. Whether it is grass cutting, woodcutting or garden maintenance there always seems to be jobs that need doing. If using gas-fired lawnmowers, chain saws or grass trimmers, keep in mind the following: 1. Before refueling the mower, be sure to let the engine cool down before doing so. 2. Be sure to place all caps back onto the containers after use and clean up any spill with sand or kitty litter. 3. Store fuel containers in an outside shed or detached garage, not indoors. 4. Do not store the containers near any source of heat or open flame.

?

5. Be sure to exercise the NO SMOKING rule when refueling your equipment. Whatever your activities may be during your cottage time, enjoy and be safe. For more information, please visit Gravenhurst.ca/fire or call 705-687-3414 ext. 223.
