TOWN OF GRAVENHURST NOTICE OF THE PASSING OF A ZONING BY-LAW TAKE NOTICE THAT the Council of the Corporation of the Town of Gravenhurst passed ByLaw 2021-33 on the 27th day of April 2021, under Section 34 of The Planning Act, R.S.O. 1990, Chapter P.13. The By-law is a Housekeeping Amendment to By-law 10-04, as amended, in order to bring it into conformity with the Town’s Official Plan. AND TAKE NOTICE THAT any person or agency may appeal to the Local Planning Appeal Tribunal in respect of the By-law by filing with the Clerk of the Town of Gravenhurst, NOT LATER THAN THE 26th day of MAY, 2021, a Notice of Appeal setting out the objection to the By-law and reasons in support of the objection, accompanied by the fee required by the Local Planning Appeal Tribunal.
With the May long weekend, barbecue season is officially here! But….before firing up your barbecue, please consider these safety tips from the Gravenhurst Fire Department. 1. If transporting a propane cylinder, make sure it is secured in the upright position. DO NOT LAY ON ITS SIDE. 2. Soap/water test the hose connections after connecting the cylinder and turning the propane on. If bubbles appear, retighten the connections and test again. 3. Do not wear clothing with baggy sleeves while barbecuing, as they can easily come in contact with the burners, possibly catching fire or causing serious burns. 4. If someone does get a burn, place the injury under cool, running water. If it is a serious burn, seek medical attention immediately. 5. Create a “Safety Zone” around you and the barbecue where the children are not allowed to enter. Keeping an eye on children playing can sometimes be difficult. 6. Even as the appliance cools down, surfaces can remain very hot. Do not touch the barbecue for a while after cooking is finished. 7. When shutting down the barbecue, turn off the supply valve first and allow residual propane in the hose to burn off. Once burned off, then close off the burner valves. For more information, please visit gravenurst.ca/fire or call 705-687-3414 ext. 22
Note: Only individuals, corporations and public bodies may appeal a zoning by-law to the Local Planning Appeal Tribunal. A notice of appeal may not be filed by an unincorporated association or group. However, a notice of appeal may be filed in the name of an individual who is a member of the association or the group on its behalf. An explanation of the purpose and effect of the By-law is included in this notice. The By-law, is available from the Community Growth and Development Department - Planning Division by contacting the Municipal office during office hours. For further information, please contact Neil Stoop, Planner, or Melissa Halford, Manager of Planning Services. Dated at the Town of Gravenhurst This 6th day of May, 2021 Scott Lucas Director of Community Growth and Development
Purpose and Effect of By-Law 2021-33 On December 20th, 2016 the Town adopted the new Town of Gravenhurst Official Plan. The Plan was subsequently approved by the District Municipality of Muskoka on May 15th, 2017. Since that time, a number of By-law updates have been approved in order to ensure its conformity to the new Official Plan and to address housekeeping and other technical amendments. By-law 2021-33 is intended to clarify the intent of a number of regulations within the Zoning By-law and to remove duplication within it. In addition, further details and clarifications are proposed related to the installation and use of shipping containers. On land parking requirements have also been proposed for marinas, as these are currently missing from the by-law. A provision has also been added that would legalize all building permits that have been issued as of the date of the passing of this proposed amendment. The side yard setback requirements for two-storey boathouses is also proposed to be increased from 6.0 metres to 9.0 metres. Provisions related to the use of shipping containers in certain areas of the municipality are also proposed to be added.
