FAMILY REUNION FOR HUNGRY HEARTS A few weeks ago, Carol’s family had their annual “Family Reunion.” Each year a er school is in session, the football season has begun, Labor Day has passed, and life has begun to se le into a rou ne, her family will gather at the “Old Home Place” in a suburb of Salem (which is a suburb of Covington) to renew the family es and share a meal together. It is always a wonderful experience, especially for a guy like me who had never a ended a “family reunion” un l the first me Carol invited me forty‐two years ago. At the family reunion you see all sorts of people. Some walk with canes, have a hard me hearing, and go on and on about the days long since past. Others are only a few months old. Some are dyed in the wool democrats and others can’t spell poli cs any other way than “republican.” Some are married; some are single. Some are wealthy; some have to work hard to get by. Some are Bap sts, others Presbyterian, some don’t even go to church… but for obvious reasons, in my book the best are Methodists. By anybody’s standards it is an interes ng group of people. But they are all united by the fact that they are family. I couldn’t help but think about that as I reflected on this morning. Today, we celebrate World Wide Communion Sunday. On this day, literally millions of people from all around the world will be kneeling at the altar of the church and celebra ng the sacrament of our Lord’s Supper. Alongside of us those who recognize their need for grace will be hearing again Jesus’ words, “Take, eat this is my body which is given for you… Drink this in remembrance of me.” Needless to say, we will represent people from all walks of life. In fact, as a way of celebra ng just how vast are our es we will once again have the Parade of the Children of the World. Our children will be dressed in clothing represen ng many of the different countries the world over and at a designated me, they will march into the service to remind us that ul mately we are all family. In other words, today is a family reunion for hungry hearts. I want to thank Sue Cunnold for helping to remind us of all this by collec ng the clothing the children will be wearing and making it available to the church. Blessings,
Dan

Greater Love Hath No Man
Ireland
Chancel Choir Many waters cannot quench Love, neither can the floods drown it. Love is strong as death. Many waters cannot quench Love. Greater Love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends. Who His own Self bare our sins in His own Body on the tree, That we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness. Ye are wash’d, ye are sanc fied, ye are jus fied, in the Name of the Lord Jesus; Ye are a chosen genera on, a royal priesthood, a holy na on. That ye should shew forth the praises of Him Who hath call’d you out of darkness into His marvelous light. I beseech you, brethren, by the mercies of that ye present your bodies A living sacrifice, holy, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.
