MARCH 12, 2017

Happy Anniversary! Each year, Dunwoody United Methodist Church sets aside the second Sunday in March to recognize and celebrate Girl Scout Sunday. Virtually all of us are famil‐ iar with the Girl Scouts. Maybe you par cipated in it when you were a child, or have daughters or granddaughters who are a part of the Girl Scouts. However, even if that is not the case, most of us s ll look forward to our yearly purchase of Girl Scout Cookies. The Girl Scouts was founded by Julie e “Daisy” Gordon Low exactly 105 years ago today… March 12, 1912. It started in Savannah, Georgia. Daisy believed that all girls should be given the opportunity to develop physically, mentally, and spir‐ itually. As a result, GSA has as its mission to build girls of courage, confidence, and character who can make the world a be er place. Today, GSA is the largest volunteer organiza on in the world. It reaches 10 mil‐ lion girls in 145 countries. Here in the United States there are 2 million girl mem‐ bers and approximately 800,000 adult members working primary as volunteers. Our church is proud to have been a part of girl scou ng for many years. We have 14 troops connected with Dunwoody UMC. Through our local Girl Scout troops, girls are discovering their poten al, connec ng with others and taking ac on in their community and world. I know you will join me in being a source of encouragement to these young ladies and to those who are volunteering to help them. Blessings, Dan

Hayes

And the Father will dance over you in joy! He will take delight in whom He loves. Is that a choir I hear singing the praises of God? No, the Lord God Himself is exul ng o’er you in song! And he will joy over you in song! My soul will make its boast in God, For He has answered all my cries. His faithfulness to me is as sure as the dawn of a new day. Awake my soul and sing! Let my spirit rejoice in God! Sing, O daughter of Zion, with all of your heart! Cast away fear for you have been restored! Put on the garment of praise as on a fes val day. Join with the Father in glorious, jubilant song. And he will joy over you in song! And the Father will dance over you in joy! God rejoices over you in song!
