The Farthest Shore One of the comments I o en hear from people is what an outstanding choir we have here at Dunwoody UMC. I couldn’t agree more. I remember the first me I heard the choir; I was so impressed with both the difficult music they made look easy, and the excep onal tonal quality of their blended voices. Tonight promises to be a very special concert. Beginning at 7:00 p.m. the Dun‐ woody Chancel Choir, along with the Grammy Award‐winning Atlanta Boy Choir, will be presen ng the United States premiere of Paul Mealor’s, “The Farthest Shore.” “The Farthest Shore” is based on a Cel c legend of a young boy cast upon an un‐ forgiving shore during a terrible storm. It invites you to overhear the reac ons of the inhabitants of the small village and tackles the tough issues of acceptance, morality, and faith. Originally debuted in London in May of 2013, Paul Mealor has been described as “the most important composer to have emerged in Welsh choral music since Wil‐ liam Mathias.” (New York Times, 2001) His music has been called “beau fully spa al and evoca ve of landscape… it illuminates both our past and our fu‐ ture.” (The Guardian, 2011). This is one of those wonderful opportuni es we have as a church to have the premiere of a well‐known piece of music, done by some of Atlanta’s finest musi‐ cians right here in our own sanctuary. I hope you will make every effort to be present. Be er yet, invite a friend. It will be a unique opportunity to be blessed by beau ful music while at the same me an invita on to do some personal reflec on during this Lenten Season. I look forward to seeing you tonight! Blessings, Dan

The Apostles’ Creed I believe in God, the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth; And in Jesus Christ his only Son, our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pon us Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; the third day he rose from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and si eth at the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrec on of the body, and the life everlas ng. Amen.

The tree of life my soul hath seen, Laden with fruit, and always green: The trees of nature fruitless be compared with Christ the apple tree. His beauty doth all things excel: By faith I know, but ne’er can tell The glory which I now can see in Jesus Christ the apple tree. For happiness I long have sought, and pleasure dearly I have bought: I missed of all; but now I see ‘ s found in Christ the apple tree. I’m weary with my former toil, here I will sit and rest awhile: Under the shadow I will be, of Jesus Christ the apple tree. This fruit doth make my soul to thrive, it keeps my dying faith alive; which makes my soul in haste to be with Jesus Christ the apple tree.
