Dear DUMC Family, As I write this note, my eyes fill with tears for so many reasons: (1) The overwhelming grief I feel that my daughter and four grandchildren are no longer with me. (2) Your overwhelming generosity. Each of you has given us so much that for me, you all have become the hands, feet, eyes and resources of Christ. (3) Your love and prayers. When I consider it, this is what carried us through these most difficult and sad days, weeks and maybe years of our lives. Please accept this note as a THANK YOU! The last two weeks have been two of the most exci ng weeks in the life of our Church. First, more than 3,800 people gathered here at DUMC on Easter Sunday to celebrate the glorious good news that Christ is alive and reigns forever more. Then, last Sunday 77 peo‐ ple joined our Church. 71 of these were young people who were confirmed into the life of the Church by a profession of their faith in Jesus Christ. One of the highlights of the Confirma on Service was when we confirmed Ella Thomas. At that moment, I stopped and said, “I want to pause a moment. She doesn’t realize this, but she just became the 5,000th member of this Church.” Obviously, Ella is only able to be the 5,000th member because of the other 4,999 members who have gone before her and there were others to be confirmed a er her. We stand on the shoulders of one an‐ other. Some have asked where we are with the Building Commi ee and the plans for our sanc‐ tuary. The Building Commi ee is con nuing to meet, review all the work that has gone on previously, explore the ques ons and concerns others have asked them to consider, and plan to make a recommenda on as to whether or not to proceed forward to the Charge Conference when they meet in May. Please remember, the only authoriza on the Building Commi ee has received at this point is to study whether or not it would be help‐ ful for the Church to engage in a worship enhancement project. Similarly, at the last Church Council mee ng, the Worship Service Times Task Force made recommenda ons as to a possible change in Worship Service and Sunday School mes. The Church Council was asked to reflect on this and then be prepared to vote when the Charge Conference meets in May. We have a whole mul tude of ministry and mission programs that will be taking place in the next few weeks. Our Habitat for Humanity blitz build will be taking place in the next two weeks. This morning, there will be a presenta on about our upcoming Vaca on Bible School. On May 6th, from 4‐7pm we will be having Praise in the Park. We hope you will join us at Brook Run Park as we enjoy a me of food, fellowship, and fun; and as our con‐ temporary Praise Band leads us in celebra ng God’s crea on. Finally, as you know, we will be saying goodbye to Andrew Chappell and Natalee Dukes Hamby and wishing them well as they prepare to be commissioned and take new assign‐ ments in June. The Staff Parish Rela ons Commi ee is hard at work addressing plans for filling their vacancies and mee ng the needs of both our Children’s and Youth Ministries. As you can tell, we have a lot going on in the life of our Church right now. Please be in prayer as we celebrate all of the ways Christ is at work and seek to respond to the guid‐ ance of the Holy Spirit as we move into the future. Your Pastor,

Dan
