At the end of the 8th Chapter of Romans, the Apostle Paul asks a reflec ve ques on, “Who shall separate us from the love of Christ?” Then Paul runs through a whole laundry list of things: trouble, distress, harassment, famine, nakedness, danger, sword?” Paul decides to answer his own ques on, “No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.” (Romans 8:35-39)

What’s Paul saying? Not only is he telling us that nothing need separate us from the love of Christ, but even the most difficult, challenging, and frightening experiences can be faced victoriously when we allow them to be opportuni es for the love of Christ to shine through us. This morning, we are beginning a series of sermons en tled, “More Than Conquerors.” Over the next few weeks we are going to be looking at some of the challenging experiences we some mes face in life; experiences such as outside pressure, grief, crippling a tudes, overwhelming tasks, life’s storms, loneliness, and disillusionment. We are going to be reflec ng on what it means to be faithful and how to be victorious in the midst of these experiences. I hope you will plan to join us for as many of these as possible. As you know, today is also Mother’s Day. We celebrate the posi ve influence of our mothers and those who have had a posi ve maternal influence on our lives. One of the ways we do this is with our annual Wesley Woods Mother’s Day Offering. Wesley Woods was first conceived in 1954 and has since become a na onally recognized leader in service to older adults. The money that is collected through this special offering provides for approximately 25% of the charitable and unreimbursed care at Wesley Woods communi es. In other words, without this offering, many of our elderly who receive care, would not receive that care. Dunwoody United Methodist Church has an excep onal history when it comes to suppor ng our Wesley Woods Senior Living. I ask that you prayerfully consider the part you might play and then give generously. Blessings,

Dan

SINE NOMINE

TRUST IN JESUS

I believe in the Father who is always with us. I believe in the Son, who freed us of our sins and was an example of how to embody God's Love. I believe the Holy Spirit empowers each of us to recognize God's Glory. I believe in forgiveness and second chances. I believe God works in mysterious ways and is providing for us even when we do not know it. I believe we are saved by grace and as a result are called to love and serve each other. I believe we see God in other's eyes and we should see others through God's eyes. I believe faith is a personal journey that cannot be measured or compared, but rather felt through a rela onship with God. I believe God is Love.
