Years ago, when I was just a young person, I was invited to help lead one of the worship services in the church to which I belonged. To this day, I can s ll remember that experience. In many respects it not only helped me realize that even as a young person I ma ered to the Body of Christ, but it was one of the ways I believe God called me into the ministry. Each year at this me, we celebrate Youth / Senior Sunday here at Dunwoody United Methodist Church. It is always one of my favorite services of the year. This morning our youth will be leading in virtually every aspect of the worship services. They will be helping to lead the music in our tradi onal services. At all of our services, they will serve as greeters and ushers, be providing the announcements, leading the prayers, reading the Scripture, and the seniors will be giving the message. This year, since it is Communion Sunday, they will also be helping to serve the Sacrament of our Lord’s Supper. The clergy will be consecra ng the elements and will be close by to help as they serve, but this is an opportunity for these young people to be the hands of Christ as the elements of the Eucharist are dispensed to all of us. It is a chance for them to serve and for the rest of us as a congrega on to be served. I also want to call your a en on to the fact that this year, the seniors will be giving a “Senior Message.” In the past, the seniors have largely reflected on their experiences growing up and being involved here at the church. However, this morning, they will be sharing more of a message that will provide each of us an opportunity for reflec on and growth. Then too, this morning we will be celebra ng with our seniors as they prepare to graduate from high school. They have reached a milestone in their educa on and in their lives. As they turn this corner, we as their church family want them to know how proud we are of them and for them. Finally, I want to personally express my gra tude to Andrew Chappell, Karen Bass, Montana Hamby, and Patricia Clark. Along with the help of Josh Amerson they have ministered to these young people and helped them grow in their faith in monumental ways. The youth are different because of them and the Kingdom of God has been extended through their efforts. In that, we can all rejoice.
Blessings,
Dan

I believe in the Father who is always with us. I believe in the Son, who freed us of our sins and was an example of how to embody God's Love. I believe the Holy Spirit empowers each of us to recognize God's Glory. I believe in forgiveness and second chances. I believe God works in mysterious ways and is providing for us even when we do not know it. I believe we are saved by grace and as a result are called to love and serve each other. I believe we see God in other's eyes and we should see others through God's eyes. I believe faith is a personal journey that cannot be measured or compared, but rather felt through a rela onship with God. I believe God is Love.
