JULY 9, 2017

Welcome to Dunwoody United Methodist Church! Wherever you find yourself on your journey of faith this morning, whether in a valley, on a mountain peak, or somewhere along the flats in between, know that you are welcome here. We have just recently passed the mid‐point of summer vaca on, and the mid‐ point of the year 2017. Any me we reach the halfway point of a year, a season, or some sort of project, there is a natural tendency to take stock of things. I spent a few moments over the Independence Day holiday to consider how I was coming along with some of the goals I had set for the summer and for the year. In January I set a goal of reading 36 books in 2017‐‐three a month. As of July 4th I had read 17. So a li le behind schedule, but in pre y good shape. At the start of the summer I set a goal of going to the gym 3 mes a week. Last week I froze my membership because I realized I hadn't even been once! It's a mixed bag of suc‐ cess and failure for most of us when it comes to the goals we set for ourselves.

As we round the corner and start into the second half of 2017, I hope that we can renew our commitment to be a dynamic Chris an community of fully devoted followers of Jesus Christ. There are many changes and many opportuni es that lie ahead for us at DUMC. May we all give thanks for the blessings we have so far received, and look ahead with joy to all the ways God is calling us to be faithful disciples and servants.
