AUGUST 7, 2016

When Jesus wanted to make an important point, he would o en do so by telling a story. Some mes, he would tell in response to a ques on that was raised. Some mes the story would be told in the face of cri cism. On at least one occasion, he used a story to put an exclama on point at the end of a sermon. Jesus seems to have believed that o en people were more likely to get the point through the process of indirec on, rather than just coming at them directly. This morning, we are beginning the first in a series of sermons that will run through September 4 en tled, “Stories Jesus S ll Tells!”* We will be looking at some of the more familiar stories of Jesus. We will delve into the story he told of two builders (Ma hew 7:24‐29). We will take two weeks to look at what is commonly referred to as The Parable of the Prodigal Son (Luke 15:11‐32). We will explore the story of the Rich Fool (Luke 12:13‐21). And, we will finish by reflec ng on the story of the Good Samaritan (Luke 10:25‐37). When heard and assimilated into our lives, each of these stories have important insights that can shape our spiritual lives in profound ways. I hope you make plans to be with us for each of these services. Blessings, Dan *My thanks to John Claypool for the tle of this series. Although we will be looking at some different stories and the points we will focus on will be different, this was the tle of a book he wrote many years ago. DUNWOODY UNITED METHODIST CHURCH 1548 Mt.
