4TH SUNDAY AFTER PENTECOST JULY 7, 2019 8:45 a.m. 11:05 a.m.
A Dynamic Christian Community of Fully Devoted Followers of Jesus Christ 1548 Mt. Vernon Road | Dunwoody, GA | www.dunwoodyumc.org
Less Than Eleven Weeks Seven months ago this week, we moved into our newly renovated Sanctuary. It has been amazing. The things we are able to do with the space have increased dramatically. When it is set up for Traditional worship, Sonny Walden, our Minister of Music, claims it is one of the finest acoustical facilities in the city of Atlanta. We have been contacted by a multitude of churches who want to see how we are able to transition our Traditional space into Contemporary space. If you were here last Sunday afternoon during the Chancel Choir concert, you saw the lighting capability we have as we lit up the Sanctuary in red, white and blue. And, we are just at the front edge of learning what is possible. Of course, there are still a few glitches‌particularly in the sound as we transition from the Contemporary service to the Traditional service. Some weeks it works perfectly. Other weeks, some in the chancel area are able to hear while others struggle a bit. We are continuing to work on this and hope to have the situation resolved in the not too distant future. One of the really exciting things that is in our immediate future is the installation of our new pipe organ. Already work has begun in places you probably did not notice. Quimby, the company that is preparing and installing our organ, has been working here at the church on the blower and associated wind lines. They are also at work on the structure and mechanics of the wind chests at their shop in Warrensburg, Missouri. In the next couple of weeks, we will enter into the installation phase of the project. You will see evidence of the work starting on or around July 15. This will take several weeks, and then we will begin the tuning phase of the project. During the installation phase, we will continue to worship in the Sanctuary, but don’t be surprised to see pipes stored on some of the pews in the back, or for the chancel area to show evidence that work is being done. Remember, it will only be for a few short weeks. The completion date is expected to be September 15, 2019. Can you believe it? That is less than eleven weeks from today. In thinking about all of this, I have been reminded of those words in Psalm 150:
Praise the Lord! Praise God in his sanctuary; praise him in his mighty firmament! Praise him for his mighty deeds; praise him according to his surpassing greatness! Praise him with trumpet sound; praise him with lute and harp! Praise him with tambourine and dance; praise him with strings and pipe! Praise him with clanging cymbals; praise him with loud clashing cymbals! Let everything that breathes praise the Lord! Praise the Lord! (NRSV)
Your Pastor,
Dan

Prayer of Thanksgiving
God, today we simply come in gratitude. We pause to thank you for your provision, your care. We are so grateful for the love of family and community. We are thankful for this beautiful place to gather in your name, for here we are challenged, encouraged and reminded of who you are and what you have done. We have been blessed with the fruit of your Spirit. We are thankful for the love, patience, kindness and gentleness of your Spirit. Continue your transforming work whereby we who have been loved will love; we with whom you have been patient will show patience; we to whom kindness has been shown will be kind; and we with whom you have been gentle will be gentle ourselves with all people. For all of this and more, we are so very grateful. Amen.

ITALIAN HYMN A Modern Affirmation
Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is the one true church, apostolic and universal, whose holy faith let us now declare: We believe in God the Father, infinite in wisdom, power, and love, whose mercy is over all his works, and whose will is ever directed to his children’s good. We believe in Jesus Christ, Son of God and Son of man, the gift of the Father’s unfailing grace, the ground of our hope, and the promise of our deliverance from sin and death. We believe in the Holy Spirit as the divine presence in our lives, whereby we are kept in perpetual remembrance of the truth of Christ, and find strength and help in time of need. We believe that this faith should manifest itself in the service of love as set forth in the example of our blessed Lord, to the end that the kingdom of God may come upon the earth. Amen.

THE SACRAMENT OF THE LORD’S SUPPER Invitation
Christ our Lord invites to his table all who love him, who earnestly repent of their sin and seek to live in peace with one another. Therefore, let us confess our sin before God and one another.
Prayer of Confession
Merciful God, we confess that we have not loved you with our whole heart. We have failed to be an obedient church. We have not done your will, we have broken your law, we have rebelled against your love, we have not loved our neighbors and we have not heard the cry of the needy. Forgive us we pray. Free us for joyful obedience, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
Promise of Pardon Leader: People: All:
Hear the good news; Christ died for us while we were yet sinners; that proves God’s love toward us. In the name of Jesus Christ, you are forgiven! In the name of Jesus Christ you are forgiven! Glory to God. Amen.
The Great Thanksgiving Leader: People: Leader: People: Leader: People: Leader:

The Good Place Sermon Series When Jesus showed up on the scene, He came announcing the good news that the Kingdom of Heaven had come near. He also spent a lot of time trying to help us capture a glimpse of the incredible nature of the Kingdom of Heaven.
