Hannah Deasy began writing and performing stand-up comedy in 2010 because she was desperate for attention yet had no actual talent worth showcasing… Born and raised in suburban Essex, she skived off Sixth Form to spend hours customizing a Peugeot 106 in the hope that one day she might make it into ‘MaxPower’ magazine. Sadly, this day never came. This huge disappointment set the tone for most of her early twenties, making her incredibly cynical about life in general. Eventually, she discovered that sharing her cynicism with a captive audience made her feel less shit. Her self confidence is now restored to such an extent she writes about herself in the third person… Her dry, brutal, gag rich style has entertained audiences of 500+ at some of the UK’s best live comedy venues including The Comedy Store, Jongleurs, The Bearcat and Comedy Café. She reached the final of the Max Turner New Act of The Year Competition 2010, the semi-finals of the National Laughing Horse New Act of the Year 2011 and starred in the televised heats of Loaded Laftas – Search for a Star. She has also gigged in various vomit scented rooms, above and below pubs, in front of floral curtains without a mic and managed to look ‘cool’. In 2011, after just a year on the circuit, she teamed up with ‘Master of Darkness’ Michael Kossew, to produce and star in ‘Nothing to Lose’ at the Edinburgh Festival. They enjoyed a successful month long run, stretching the boundaries of acceptability, which resulted in a four star review from FringeGuru. In addition to performing, Hannah regularly writes for a blog called www.lifethroughahashtag.com covering popular culture, trending topics, or things that need to be taken the piss out of. Here are some examples: -

She lives in South East London and has an imaginary, overweight boyfriend called Ian who she enjoys cooking for.
