Melinda Vick Wilson writes,“We’ ve been spending most of the past two summers in Blowing Rock, N.C. playing lots of golf, since that was one of the sports without many restrictions during the beginning of COVID-19. My daughter, Lauren, had a baby girl in April of 2020, which was a scary time. All went well and Eden is now 18 months old. Bill and I now have six grandchildren ages seven and under. We keep busy with them. I saw several of our classmates in September at a wedding — Pam Williams, Fran Chalkley Robertson and Marilyn Linhart Moses. It was great being with them!”

1972
Joan Pruitt Buhrman spends most weekends at Virginia Beach and has had so much fun fishing early mornings and late afternoons. Sally Burford is relishing 24 hours per day of free time now that she is retired.
Mary Conner and her son Thomas had a trip to Scotland postponed due to COVID-19. The good news is that the postponement gave Mary more time to study the Conner-Boinest family history.
Sarah Masters writes, “I am honored to have one of my drawings chosen for the cover of poet Kasey Jued’s second volumne of poetry, The Thicket, which comes out at the beginning of November, published by the University of Pittsburgh Press in the Pitt Poetry Series. For Kasey’s first volume, Keeper, which won the 2012 Agnes Lynch Starrett Prize, the poet selected another of my drawings.”
Mary D. Bennett Ellison is loving retirement after a very successful career as chief external relations officer for the United Network for Organ Sharing (UNOS).
Margie Farquhar writes, “The Richmond-area class of ’72 girls had a wonderful time on a beautiful September day gathering at the house of Mary Conner for a casual lunch. We really missed those who were not able to join us. I’m also in the process of downsizing and sorting through 50 years of stuff at Hereford Hill. One of my recent finds was a newspaper article tucked in my Collegiate graduation program. The article included a picture of Mary Conner and Ann Young Fairman at graduation with Mrs. Flippen. ”
Ellen Hatcher Hamner was sad to leave her Westham neighborhood home, but she is now happily settled at Grayson Hill.
Beth Marchant is thoroughly enjoying being a grandmother and continues to paint watercolors for friends.
Brenda Britten Mathews and husband David have put millions of miles on their car travelling to either Chapel Hill for basketball games or to Charlotte to see David Matthews Jr. ’02 (and their two grandchildren) and daughter Britten Matthews ’06.
Elaine Ferebee Osborne and her husband Herbie recently met Lelong Waller, Taylor Waller ’71, Beth Marchant and Ry Marchant ’71 for lunch midway between Tappahannock and Irvington.
Pam Guilford Redd is thrilled that son Walker Redd ’07, his wife and new grandson Davis have moved from Boston to Chapel Hill. She is trying to figure out how to get Chappell Redd ’11 closer to Richmond.
Priscilla Fairlamb Stinson went to Atlanta recently to attend granddaughter Emory’s second birthday party and visit with grandson Wells and son Peyton Stinson ’04.
Bunny Gentry Williams is happy to be back in Richmond where football is not king. After many years of success, Sarah Munford and spouse Laurel Quarberg sold their floral design company, The New Leaf, in Norfolk. They unveiled their renovated van in Richmond recently and plan to travel around the country in 2021.
Kim Sullivan Heartwell was promoted to president and chief executive officer of CallisonRTKL, a global architecture, planning and design firm, now in its 75th year of business.
1976
Allen Kemp writes, “We’re proud first-time grandparents of Esmé Margaret Kemp-Klann. We always heard how fun grandkids are, but now we know.”
1977
Collegiate faculty visited Brian Richardson in August for a two-day retreat and planning session. They climbed a fire tower, toured a mountain-top agriculture school (AMI), drove through the wilderness of Laurel Fork and hung out with Betty and Brian’s sheep in the barn. Mary Carter Pettit Dabney became the proud grandmother of Dabney Keane Robins.
1985
Lee Moreau relocated back to Richmond to be closer to family and Cougar nation.
Doug Reed writes, “After 25 miserable years of IT cubicle hell, I’ve quit to drive for Uber. I’ve never been happier.”
1987
Louise Reed gave two talks as the CEO of Afloat, Inc. at an international blockchain conference in Wyoming.
1988
Deven Pandya ’20 and Graham Bor ’23 teamed up against Paul Caldwell and Jimmy Chou in a summer league match played at Westwood Racquet. Despite coach Rick Godsey’s best efforts, experience won out this time. Dr. Caldwell was impressed with the young talent coming out of the Collegiate tennis program in recent years.

1991
Larkin Rogers Mehta recently received a promotion to senior director, office of the chief information officer, at Hill Physicians Medical Group, the largest independent physician association in Northern California, where she oversees the project management office, IT governance, business relationship management, IT finance and vendor management teams. Larkin resides in San Ramon, Calif. with her husband, three daughters (ages 12, 14 and 17) and Koa, their beloved one-year-old goldendoodle.

Anya Schwender writes, “I’ve seen quite a few Cougars lately! I did some pet-sitting in Denver for Astrid Liverman and had a nice visit with her and her family when they returned from France. We were joined by those who happened to be in town! I found a lot of Collegiate faces at Lickinghole Creek Craft Brewery when Jeremy Hilliard ’95 was in town from New York to play a show with his band, Peak.”

Caroline Garrett Patrick writes, “My husband Ian and I had a baby girl, Clara Garland Patrick, on July 23. She weighed five pounds, 15 ounces and was 20 inches long. She’s a happy and healthy baby, and we love having her!”
1999
Kara Kihm is a psychotherapist who works with women going through major life transitions. After her life-altering transition she discovered that the key to happiness and success is tapping into the voice of our intuition and inner guidance. When she discovered this voice she was led on an incredible journey of self-discovery not only across the country, but within herself. Kara has published a book sharing her adventure in hopes to inspire anyone who is seeking a path towards authenticity.

Rachel Burgess Yost married Jonathan Yost on Sept. 4 in Richmond, Va. Peyton Jenkins and wife Becky welcomed baby number three, Robert Thomas Jenkins, into the world in October of 2020. The oldest two boys are now Cougars themselves. Peyton Jr. is in 3rd Grade and Jack is in Kindergarten. Jack is convinced he has the coolest Senior buddy in history in Angelo Parker ’22.

Charlotte Miller Logan was welcomed by Caroline Gibson Logan and her husband on Aug. 20. Charlotte joins big sister Hattie, age two.

Beau Thomas Havermann was born Sept. 14, 2020 to Kate Schilling Havermann and husband Ryan Havermann.
Sarah Shulman Lantz attended the wedding of classmates Nicole Barr ’10 and Matt Weber ’10.
Amandeep S. Sidhu ’96 recently received The Sikh Coalition’s Pro Bono Sevadar of the Year Award for his commitment to service for the Sikh community and dedication to fight for civil rights protections for all. Sidhu’s pro bono legal work to end employment discrimination in the United States Armed Forces started in 2009 and spans dozens of clients across all military branches. In September 2021, his client First Lieutenant Sukhbir Singh Toor was featured on the front page of The New York Times Sunday edition in an article, “Marines Allow Sikh to Wear a Turban, Sometimes.” A litigation partner at Winston & Strawn LLP in Washington, D.C., Sidhu co-founded The Sikh Coalition twenty years ago in the wake of the 9/11 attacks on our country.

James Michael Jarvis married Katie Lynne Butz on Kiawah Island, S.C. Oct. 31, 2020. They now live in Richmond, Va. Due to COVID-19 restrictions only family and a few Cougars were able to attend.

Laura Anderson Kirby wrote that this was a busy year. Her family moved to Durham, N.C., where her daughter was born. She started working as a clinical psychologist at the Duke Center for Autism and Brain Development and wrote a children’s book, Henrietta’s Thistleberry Boots, which is a story about change, bravery and resilience.

Emily Moore officiated the wedding, almost exactly 10 years after we were voted most likely to still be friends in 10 years! Watkins Cottrell ’34, who is a current Collegiate Kindergartener, was a ring bearer.”

Lucy Smith was a finalist for best yoga instructor in CVille Weekly’s “Best of Cville” issue. When she’s not teaching yoga, she works as a solutions development representative for PowerSchool, where she had the second highest sales rate on the inside sales team for Q3. She and her college sweetheart, Bryan Carter, are planning a July 2022 wedding in Charlottesville, Va. Meagan Justice writes, “I’m earning my master’s of teaching with a comprehensive theater arts endorsement at the University of Richmond and will graduate this December. I’m currently student-teaching in Henrico County Public Schools.”
