What is a Forged Knife Blade? The Chef Series Pure Knives are forged blades. Forged blades are made by heating a rod of metal, then dropping it into a mold, and hammering it into the correct shape and thickness. The intense pressure and high heat used to make forged blades makes them very resilient and durable. Forged blades hold an edge extremely well, are sharp, reliable and strong. The most prized tools in a Chef’s kitchen are forged blades.

Caring for your Chef Series Pure Knives A knife that is properly cared for keeps its edge longer. A sharper knife requires less effort by the user to perform a task. • After each use, we strongly recommend that you immediately hand wash your knives in hot, soapy water.

• Always dry your knives thoroughly before storing in the sheath or in knife block.

• Dishwashing your knives is NOT recommended because the harsh chemicals in the dishwashing detergent can attack the stainless steel, damaging the blade.

HOW TO PUT ON/REMOVE THE SHEATHS TO REMOVE THE KNIFE FROM SHEATH:

With the Tupperware logo facing you, hold the knife by the handle and the sheath with the other hand, while slipping the sheath off the blade. TO INSERT THE KNIFE INTO THE SHEATH: With the Tupperware logo facing you, and with the other hand holding the sheath, position the tip of the blade on the guiding surface of the sheath. Slide the blade into the sheath until the sheath touches the bolster.

• Possible spots on the blades can be easily cleaned with stainless steel cleaner.

• To prevent blade damage, don’t use knives to open bottles, loosen drawers or cut through hard surfaces/objects (such as bone or steel). Also, do not use the knives as a screwdriver. • Do not cut on porcelain or metal cutting boards (this will make the blade blunt). • Do not cut leather, wood or frozen food.

• We recommend, when scraping food from the cutting board, that you use the spine of the knife in order to keep the blade sharp.

HOW TO SAFELY USE YOUR KNIVES

Each sheath has a picture of its corresponding knife.

• Do not leave knives unattended near children. Always store knives in Knife Block or protective sheath. • Always hold the knife firmly by the handle and never by the blade.

• Hold the handle of the knife with one hand and remove the sheath with your other hand. • When not in use, place the blade under the cutting board to prevent accidental injury.

• If dropped, always let the knife fall to the floor. Never attempt to catch the knife in mid-air. • Never place a knife into a sink full of dishes as this may cause serious injury and may dent or damage the blades.

• When passing a knife to another person, lay the knife down on a flat surface and allow the other person to pick it up by the handle. • When storing, never let the knives come into contact with other metal objects. This could damage the blades.
