Program Overview The value of complementary care – which encompasses a broad assortment of therapeutic modalities – has been demonstrated and acknowledged across a wide range of applications. Complementary Care plays an important role in proactive and preventative health and wellness, pain and stress management. It is an adjunct to medical care where psychological and emotional wellbeing are recognized factors in patient progress and in longterm and palliative care environments where quality of life issues are of central importance. H olistic Practitioners and Holistic Practitioner Training offered at Centennial College is a step towards good career for the students.
Centennial’s Complementary Care/Holistic Practitioner oneyear Graduate Certificate program is the first such program to be approved by the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities. It provides students from a variety of healthrelated backgrounds the opportunity to develop a strong initial base of competency as Complementary Care practitioners. The program provides indepth training in four wellestablished modalities: reflexology, craniosacral therapy, therapeutic touch and aromatherapy. Together, these four modalities allow graduates to offer effective complementary care therapies to a broad range of clients with varying needs. In addition, you will develop a solid foundation in the human sciences, including pathophysiology, nutrition and therapy theory. As private practice is often a choice in this field, the program includes extensive training in creating and building an independent practice. The program combines inclass handson modality training, supervised public clinic and a community placement. All faculty members are practitioners in their field and bring therapeutic experience to their teaching. Admission Requirements Applicants to Graduate Certificate programs must submit an official transcript demonstrating proof of successful completion of a postsecondary diploma or degree program in health or community services.
