Who we are & What we do. 2

We are a small family business involved in the breeding of Huacaya alpacas since 2000. Our farm is located in the eastern ridges of the Ecuadorian highlands, on a small mountain called “El Inga”, 11.000 feet (3.400 meters) above sea level. Our story starts 12 years ago when we decided to convert our cattle farm into an alpaca farm. The beginning was challenging, as with any other starting enterprise. Surely but slowly our herd grew, as well as our plans and dreams. After all these years of hard work, we have more than 900 alpacas living in an organic and self sustainable free range farm. Today we are manufacturers of 100% pure Alpaca yarn, as well as knitted goods. These goods are hand made by local artisans that use ancestral techniques going back to the Incan empire. We work closely with the artisans, helping them keep their traditions alive and supporting their families and communities. Inga Alpaca does not dye or treat the wool. Our fleece is carefully handpicked and selected by our quality control department and we produce only natural colors.

Alpaca Wool

Also known as, “the gold from the Andes”, is one of the most luxurious and precious natural fibers in the world. Considered sacred by the Incas since pre-Columbian times, Alpaca fleece is three and a half times stronger and warmer than lamb’s wool. It’s soft, silky and has microscopic air pockets that provide exceptional thermal characteristics. It maintains warmth in cold temperatures and releases heat whenever needed. Alpaca fleece has no lanolin which makes it hypoallergenic, perfect for asthmatic people or for those who suffer from respiratory disorders. Alpaca is naturally waterrepellent and flame retardant.
