Top Producers: Luke & Sadie Newcomer

A serious car accident that required a full year of recovery time forced Luke and Sadie Newcomer to “reinvent the wheel” on their future plans.
Prior to the accident, both Luke and Sadie had experience in the restaurant industry, and, since they have always enjoyed cooking together (see what they’re making next by following @justkitten on Instagram), it was natural for them to plan to open their own restaurant. The car accident, however, derailed those plans, and the couple found themselves wondering what they would pursue instead. While recovering together, the pair watched a lot of HGTV, and, even though those shows present “a total fantasyland from what things are really like,” their interest in real estate blossomed.
Real estate wasn’t a foreign concept to Luke, as he helped his dad rehab houses and manage rental properties back at home in Pennsylvania, and also had friends in the industry. However, he and Sadie had to find out where this new pursuit would take them together.
WHERE IT ALL STARTED
The pair met at Flagler College Their life plans where Luke graduated in 2013 with a major in business changed in an instant, but administration and a minor in marketing and advertising, and Sadie graduated in 2014 with a major in that did not stop communications and a their drive to be minor in political science and advertising. Their successful! business backgrounds and experiences helped them ease into the real estate industry and find early success. Ultimately, they landed in Saint Augustine Beach and became licensed agents in February 2016. In the time since, they have grown The Newcomer Group into an agency that hyper-focuses on their own local market. They are on pace to sell $100 million in volume this year, up from $73 million last year.
ENTREPRENEURSHIP IS IN THEIR BLOOD
What makes The Newcomer Group different from others is “work ethic, structure, systems, and a bad a** team,” according to Luke. “Without our amazing team and staff, there is no way we would be where we are.” Luke and Sadie were both raised by parents who were business owners, so their entrepreneurial spirits and strong work ethics come from those respective roots.I love all of the moving parts that go into a real estate transaction because there is so much time, energy, systems, and effort behind the scenes that go completely unnoticed.
“I like to think that we are both very self-motivated because of our upbringings and general agreement on where we want to be 20 years from now,” Luke said. “There are so few things that you can actually control in this business, and work ethic is something that I have full control over and take pride in.”
As the top team on Anastasia Island every month so far in 2021, Luke expects that same work ethic and pride from his team.
“I feel that I truly am the knowledge leader of our area, and I train my team to be hyper-focused on market conditions and providing amazing customer service,” Luke said. “We are highly consumer-focused and are willing to push the envelope with video marketing, consistent follow-up, and being genuine with our customers.”
Beyond the pride he feels in his team and what they have built together, Luke loves the rush of the real estate industry. “I love all of the moving parts that go into a real estate transaction because there is so much time, energy, systems, and effort behind the scenes that go completely unnoticed,” Luke said. “Getting that lead, turning them into a customer, structuring deals, negotiating, closing, getting referrals, testing new leads…Just when I think I have everything figured out, something new comes up that makes me pivot.”
OUTSIDE OF THE OFFICE
While Luke and Sadie log many hours building their business and their team, they work hard at having fun, too. In addition to cooking together, the Newcomers enjoy traveling domestically and internationally, and they have fun playing fetch with their Golden Retriever named Louie. Recently, the couple closed on a lot and are preparing to build their own home, which they hope will go as smoothly as home builds on HGTV.
Professionally and personally, the Newcomers know that home is truly where the heart is.
