Now in his 20th year as an educator, J.B. Scott is the Coordinator of Jazz Studies and Director of the acclaimed UNF Great American Jazz Series. He has instructed thousands of students over the decades, including many who have gone on to great jazz careers. As a performer, he has appeared with jazz greats including Al Hirt, Pauito D’Rivera, John Pizzarelli, Kurt Elling, and with the Jax Symphony and Equinox Big Band among others. His J.B. Scott Swingin’ All Stars has recorded numerous CDs and is well known. As a promoter and supporter of the Jacksonville Jazz Festival, J.B. has mentored young jazz artists, performed at the event frequently, been a panel judge for the Piano Competition, arranged for venues, and continues to support the festival in many other aspects.
