Student of Architecture
HELLO! I am Jayant Negi, a 4th year architecture student. For me, architecture is the perception of the world, the ideation and the creation of better and livable spaces. It’s something that lets me explore beyond and add depths to my understanding. I constantly try to expand my horizons, curating and bringing the pieces of design to a palette, while seeking inspiration from the works that have brought a positive change in our surroundings. Bringing forth my past works exploring design thinking and simple implementation through experiential architecture. Haldwani, Uttarakhand, India

SITE PLAN
10
The development of the schematic site plan began with identifying the site precinct and then linking the spaces to it. This led to better outdoor connectivity and improved pedestrian and vehicular circulation. The design development stages allowed for a more practical realisation of the building through a series of exercises. Conforming to the fire codes allowed the building and its inhabitants to be more safer through compliance to various fire safety and egress codes and requirements as per the International Building Code (IBC, 2018).

“
‘Sculpt-House’ presents an alternative escape from the urban fabric of the city, where one would be closer to nature and where one would
appreciate the honest use of local construction material and techniques. Located in the hills of Morni, Haryana, India, the house lies in a relatively flatter terrain overlooking the lake. It makes use of the rammed earth and sinusoidal walls alongwith brick wall, giving each space a distinct enclosure during the transition. The essence of verticality and a unique facade is acheived through the use of linear elements and curved fenestrations”.

assive strategies such as cross-ventilation, evaporative cooling, perforated brick walls and a hot air chimney creates a comfortable indoor environment without stressing on the artificial resources. Since the site lies in a more traditional setting, it becomes essential to respect the ethos of the place and designing considering the natural ecology and the local resources. Consisting of 4 bedrooms, a recreational area, sunken lounge, study area and a vegetable garden, the Sculpt-House creates a haven for the family giving a feeling of living in a sculptural abode, in the spaces dictated by them.
