SOLAER

SOLAER IS AN AIRLINE COMPANY I CREATED BASED ON THE IDEA OF A SOLAR POWERED PLANE. THIS AIRPLANE WOULD FLY FASTER, SAFER, AND WOULD BE MUCH BETTER FOR THE ENVIRONMENT. THE NAME “SOLAER” IS MIXTURE OF SOLAR AND THE L AT I N AER. THE “O” OF THE LOGO IS MEANT TO REPRESENT A RISING SUN. ORIGINAL ILLUSTRATIONS, LOGOTYPE, AND STANDARDS MANUAL WERE CREATED TO SHOW HOW THE LOGO SHOULD BE USED AND THE OVERALL FEEL OF THE BRAND.

MIES BELIEVED THAT "LESS IS MORE" AND "GOD IS IN THE DETAILS", HE USED THIS PHILOSOPHY TO CREATE SIMPLE, DETAILED, AND EXTREMELY MODERN DESIGNS. I CREATED A LINE OF EXTERIOR PAINTS THAT I FELT WOULD REFLECT THIS STYLE. I WAS INSPIRED BY MANY OF MIES' BUILDINGS. THE COLOR PALETTE WAS TO REFLECT THE MATERIALS MIES COMMONLY USED; STEEL, CONCRETE, STONE GLASS AND WOOD.

AS AN ANIMAL LOVER IN THE CITY, I FIND THAT I WOULD REALLY LOVE AN ANIMAL BUT AM UNABLE TO CARE FOR ONE IN A SMALL APARTMENT. VOODOO OR VODOU IS A COMPLICATED AND INTRIGUING RELIGION. I WANTED CREATE AN INFORMATIONAL BROCHURE AND POTIONS LINE THAT WOULD CAPTURE THE WILD BELIEFS, SPIRITS, AND TRADITIONS. I WAS INSPIRED BY DADA, ANTI-ART, RANDOMNESS, SURREALISM AND ABSTRACTION. I DESIGNED COLLAGES AND PHOTOGRAPHED ALTARS I N M Y ST U D I O, U S I N G T R A D I T I O N A L A N D N O N -T R A D I T I O N A L VO D O U OBJECTS FOR THE DIFFERENT DEITIES. THE FORMAT OF THE BROCHURE IS INSPIRED BY VINTAGE GIRLY MAGAZINES AND NEWSPAPERS.

BLISS BRAND

BLISS IS CONCEPTUAL BRAND CREATED AS HIGH END LINE OF HOME, FOOD, AND KITCHEN ITEMS TO BE SOLD AT KMART. THIS BRAND WAS D E S I G N E D FO R A REFINED HOME. IT APPEALS TO PEOPLE WHO ENJOY IMPORTED GOODS AND WILL PAY A LITTLE MORE FOR A SPECIAL ITEM. THE DESIGN WAS INSPIRED BY THINGS THAT MAKE US BLISSFULLY HAPPY. TRAVELING PAPERS AND MONEY WERE ALSO USED AS INSPIRATION. M Y C U STO M I L LU ST R AT I O N S G I V E E AC H P R O D U C T A U N I Q U E A N D VALUABLE APPEAL. THE SURREAL DRAWINGS REFLECT THE BRAND'S NAME OF “BLISS” AND WHAT TRULY MAKES US HAPPY.
