- The Michigan/Ontario Region CCCA 2017 'Spring Training' issue of

Classic Vibrations

What better way to start than with a photo of Ty Cobb, and a 'classic' ? This reminds us that Spring Training Camp has started for our Detroit Tigers

Can warm, 'classic driving weather' be far behind ?

The Michigan/Ontario Region has always been represented by one of the largest contingents at CCCA National Meetings and this year we expect to repeat that attendance record. A group of MI Region members is planning to travel together by train & wishes to extend an invitation to all to consider joining them for the two-day, fun trip from Detroit to Reno (wouldn't you rather spend the travel time in the Club Car ?). Depending on your personal schedule it is possible that you may wish to split the trip - traveling by train in only one direction. Plans are being finalized so please contact either Floy Barthel (lfbarthel@yahoo.com) or Greg Stachura (gstachura@comcast.net) to communicate your interest and get all the details.

- Announcing The Michigan/Ontario Region CCCA is now on Facebook !!! https://www.facebook.com/MIONregionCCCA/ While 'social media' might not garner the enthusiasm of all our members it can provide us with visibility - especially to younger people who might find an interest in Classic CarsÂŽ and represent the future of our club. In addition to classics many of us also own or are enthusiastic about non-classic cars and have interests beyond CCCA. A Facebook page allows us to communicate information about these other interests, cars, and activities; we can share what some of our members are doing beyond CCCA and our Region; keep a calendar with events involving other clubs (after all, there are many marques represented within our club that also have their own websites & activities); post timely news (I don't have to wait for a publication date to roll around); see places & people that we know; we can introduce materials that are not appropriate on our club website (according to CCCA guidelines); we can include videos, slideshows, links, etc. And we won't fill your 'inbox' with unwanted notices.

NOTE - you do not have to sign up as a member of Facebook to look at our page - all you have to do is enter our web address www.facebook.com/MIONregionccca into your browser. I have extracted the following examples, which appear on and are linked to our Facebook Page to illustrate my point - please take a minute to explore them. Regular updates about show opportunities such as this article about the Concours d'Elegance of America at St. Johns published in Hemmings

Link to a notice on the Packard Club website about a lecture presented by our mutual member, Roger Luksik. You might wish to attend even if you are not a member of the Packard Club.

We include photos, videos and recordings not just written words

The site expands to cover our broad membership interests - including categories related to but not necessarily specific to our club, for instance: humor

Link to the CCCA Museum's new entrance - an important control for temperature & humidity to preserve our exhibits - we will get to visit and appreciate when we attend The Experience in June

But also history, architecture, art, advertising, transportation, literature, tools, music, personalities, etc., etc. For instance, this set of postcards about the Ford Hamtramck Plant submitted by Dan Clements from his personal collection.

Many beautiful pictures of Classic Cars are available for viewing, reference, and archiving.

We can also post notices that can be very timesensitive such as member health or obituary information, last-minute changes in information, or other notices.

- So How Much Do YOU Know About Car History ? Our latest challenge to our members and something we plan as a regular column in Classic Vibrations Virtually all questions have some relationship to Classic CarsÂŽ and/or our Region. Our Quizmaster has spent hours crafting the questions and researching his answers (he assures me HIS are the correct answers) and they will be printed in the 2017 Summer issue of Classic Vibrations.

Do you think you know as much as or more than our Quizmaster ? < Click on either this link or the image below to download & print a copy for reference > Email your answers to: jayf3641@sbcglobal.net

If all of your answers agree with the Quizmaster's (remember, his are the correct answers) then your certificate will be personally signed by our Quizmaster, suitably framed, your accomplishments will be noted in Classic Vibrations, and you will be entitled to significant bragging rights.

- Directory The 2017 edition of our Michigan Region CCCA Directory will be going to press very soon. In the past few years we have asked members to 'opt in' for a copy in order to be conservative with our treasury. This year I am pleased to announce and recognize that a very generous contribution from Leake Auction Company and Region member Andy Stone has allowed us to print copies for everyone !

The Last Word - please send suggestions, corrections, participate in our activities, mention our club to your friends, and volunteer when you have the urge - thank you !
