the collective: fashion x photography project aims to expose some of Brunei’s best young designers and photographers. The collaboration came from wanting to showcase Brunei’s burgeoning fashion scene. We called on some of Brunei’s best young designers in clothing, jewelry and accessories, and some prominent local photographers, and asked them to get together and create something for our lookbook. The creative concept for each photo shoot was decided by the designers with a one word concept being chosen, and each photographer then interpreting it within their own style. What you get is each brands personality crossed with the photographers perspective. This look book would not have been possible without the efforts of everyone involved in this project. Nadia is the sunny personality behind the hugely popular accessory brand BeadsHeaps which was launched in 2010. Their signature customised pins for women and men and headbands catapulted their business and they now create a full accessories range that includes customised shoes, and brooch bouquets for weddings. A custom made fascinator is featured in her collaboration.
Sapta is one part of local brand AnalogLab that is bringing back old school film and cameras in a big way! This zen photographer captures the world around him, on film, His portfolio is mostly comprised of stunning landscapes, some from his travels. Images captured (in order) on a Hasselblad 553ELX with Kodak Portra 400, and Leica M6 with Fuji Superia Premium 400. Both images processed by AnalogLab.

Theodora is a local designer who hit it big with her batik print skirts. This creative runs her fashion brand entirely on her own, and has built her business using only social media. Her initial line of womenswear featuring her skirts and tops has now expanded to mens shirts, Her fashion and lifestyle blog ‘Strutting in my shoes documents her fashion edits and life in Brunei.

A versatile photographer, she shoots everything, from weddings, to events, and her own fashion edits which extend to cosplay. Images captured on Nikon D700 with 70-200mm lens using natural lighting.

Ain Lim
Yusrina is the face of local jewelry brand Enya Bijoux. A self made success story, this creative entrepreneur hand-crafts as well as designs her own jewelry. Her initial line of minimalistic jewelry for women has since expanded to mens jewelry and a bridal line. A piece from her bridal line is featured in the lookbook.
Ain is a local conceptual photographer that creates amazing surrealist images. A veteran, she has been shooting since 2009, and works at capturing feelings and emotion whether they are her own or someone elses. Previously living in the UK, she is now based in Brunei. Images captured using a NikonD300 with kit lens and natural lighting.

Maricel Pamintuan
Ezra Pilpus
Maricel is a recent graduate of the Winchester School of Art and interned at internationally renowned fashion house Marchesa, before returning to Brunei to start her self titled label in 2013. She has a basics range called ‘M’ as well as seasonal collections. She recently debuted her first commercial collection at Asian Fashion Week in Surabaya to high praise.
Ezra Pilpus is a local photographer who specialises in portraits. He is a strong proponent of using natural backgrounds and has an almost minimalist style to his images. His commercial work includes fashion and musicians, and he recently shot the Spring/ Summer ‘15 collection for Maricel Pamintuans debut at Asian Fashion Week. Images captured using a Canon 7D and 50mm f/1.8 lens and natural lighting.
Farhanna Pura
Adam Hague
Farhanna is the designer behind local high end fashion brand Na forrér, which she started four years ago, purely out of her love for fashion. An analyst by day, this designer has singlehandedly built her brand from scratch and is now one of Brunei’s most internationally recognized designers. She has showcased her designs in the United Kingdom at the Regent’s College Fashion Week, and been featured by the Thai edition of Wallpaper Magazine as one of Brunei’s notable creatives.
Adam is an internationally recognised artist that utilises photography as his medium. He has been published on Vogue Italia online, and profiled by Yahoo’s Flickr website for his highly conceptual and quirky imagery that often draws upon issues from his own life. Images captured on a Canon 6D with Canon 70200mm 2.8L IS lens, and using artists own lighting.

Thea and Seera are the sibling team behind local fashion brand T&S Designs. The two sisters have designed three collections to date, the most recent titled ‘Italiano: Part Due’ which is featured here. They create high end pieces inspired by their travels and cultural background. The sisters do both a ready to wear range and custom pieces on request.
Osveanne Nadiah is a locally based artist who runs design based creative company Osveous with her sister across Brunei and New York. They do designs, artwork, jewelry, clothing & much more that are defiantly different but complimentary to trends. She comes from a family of well known creatives, and is carrying on the tradition of talent with her conceptual artwork. She is currently available for commission for artworks and other creative disciplines.

Amy Guo
Anisah Alkaff
Amy is a local makeup artist and hair stylist originally from China, who now calls Brunei home. This fashion forward creative is known for her elegant styling and has worked with local film star Liyana Yus for photoshoots and events. Amy does both editorial and wedding events on request.
Anisah is a hugely popular self-taught makeup artist/ model. Her versatility in fashion editorial makeup is a result of hours of practice to her craft and this adorable local creative, turned her passion for makeup into a part-time profession several years ago and has been high in demand ever since. She is available for wedding and editorial makeup on request.
Muaz Al-Rashid

Muaz is the often disguised creative force behind makeup and hair brand ‘Dragons and Pixie Dust’ . This self taught artist has a passion for Special Effects makeup and has had his work featured in local newspapers. His ability to transform and create out of the ordinary Special Effects looks despite no prior training is a testament to his creative drive. Muaz does wedding, editorial and special effects makeup on request.
Victoria Crane is a multi-disciplinary creative that was previously based in the UK. This jackof-all-trades is currently based in Brunei and was part of the local relaunch of boutique Joenah Boutique last year. Her impressive photography portfolio includes a photoshoot of famed UK model Suki Waterhouse. She is currently available for commision for graphic design, illustrations, photography, makeup and hair artistry and henna art.
