To the left you will see a collection of my work organized chronologically to make my hopeful progression more apparent. Each project has their own unique set of conditions, techniques and organization strategies. Rather than being static objects, I see architecture as tools, tools that can do things that could not of been done before. This is generally achieved by first identifying the conditions through heavy research and then with such conditions, construct a logical intervention for the site. Design is to solve problems.

The site can be broken down into 4 conditions; the lake, the dramatic slope of the terrain, the tree line and the vineyard itself. Program is divided into 4 bars in relation to each specific condition and act as the threshold between the manmade landscape to the natural landscape.

The experience of producing and purchasing should be understood together. Vertical bars are sandwiched between the predefined programs to unify the building and to supply vertical circulation.

Sloping the bars will architecturally indicate the intent on each bar. The two production bars will direct views into the vinery while the event and retail bars will direct views into the natural landscape.

Even though very similar in area, the Toronto Island is viewed very differently to Central park in New York City. Every class, every race of New Yorkers utilizes their city’s green gem where as many Torontians rarely make an annual visit. A prominent difference is that central park is enclosed by the city, by people who use it while the Toronto island, hence the definition of island, is surrounded by water, thus limiting its accessibility. The only TORONTO

YO YO MA CHAIR

structures 3b / comeuptomyroom

In collaboration with Pete Kitchen, this chair was designed and built as part of the structural design workshop. The assignment required students to construct a chair inspired by a client of choice. We choose Yo Yo Ma, a cellist who is known for his versatility of playing styles and virtuoso. Our concept was to have our chair adaptable to the number of sitters while maintaining a smooth and constant form. The chair was made with 1/16 aircraft plywood and hand stitched with a black leather lace.

The Yo Yo Ma chair was exhibited at the Gladstone Hotel’s annual

Come Up To My Room (CUTMR) design exhibition.
