DATUK SHARIFAH AINI TRIBUTE TO DATUK SHARIFAH AINI The JB Arts Festival and The MBJB Orchestra pay tribute to the late Datuk Sharifah Aini, fondly known as ‘Kak Pah’. Noted for a string of hits over the years including Hapuslah Airmatamu, Seri Dewi Malam, Dekatlah Padaku, Bunga Tanjung and Mak Inang Melayu, Datuk Sharifah Aini was accorded the Biduanita Negara (National Songstress) title and is best remembered for her melodious voice and her signature tunes that have tugged at the heartstrings of music fans from all walks of life. The MBJB Orchestra was founded in 1994 to preserve Malaysian music and to showcase the distinctiveness and diversity of our country’s culture.

NADING RHAPSODY NADING RHAPSODY Experimental, radical and provocative, Nading Rhapsody expresses their love for the oldest legacies in Sarawak through a unique fusion of avant-garde Borneo ethnic music. They are determined to bring back the distinctive spirit of ethnic traditional folk songs by using ritual chanting, lullabies, myths and stories which have been adapted to suit the demands of contemporary music.

EUNICE DANIELLE W. EUNICE DANIELLE W. A local singer-songwriter/producer. A former band leader of Sydney's all-girl band, The Luvbeats. Eunice was classically trained and graduated with a Bachelor's of Degree in Contemporary Music in Sydney, Australia. She is back in Malaysia, writing and producing her original music.

XIONG QUARTET XIONG QUARTET Enjoy a fresh musical experience with Xiong Quartet as they share a unique mixture of various Brazilian genres with a healthy dose of jazz improvisations. RAIHAN RAIHAN Islamic pop group Raihan’s musical innovation has stormed Malaysia with a success the band calls nothing less than "a miracle of God." The all-male Raihan sings traditional Islamic religious hymns (or"nasyids"). Having toured the United States, the United Kingdom, France, South Africa, Indonesia and many other countries numerous times, Raihan is considered one of Malaysia’s most successful artists. Their debut album, Puji-Pujian is the highest selling album in Malaysia with a total sale of 3,500,000 units thus gaining 12 times Platinum status.

HADY AFRO Hady Afro is one of Malaysia’s most accomplished metalstring fingerstyle guitarists. No stranger to festivals, Hady has performed at the Malaysian International Guitar Festival (MIGFEST) numerous times and has showcased his skills around the region. Performing with Hady and back at the JB Arts Festival for the 3rd time, Jason’s Boys are set to leave audiences in awe yet again with their classical and fingerstyle guitar skills.

THE JOY TANG QUINTET THE JOY TANG QUINTET The Joy Tang Quintet is a jazz band that performs purely instrumental pieces that are a unique fusion of gospel and jazz. In hopes of a new sound, the band was formed with specific instrumentation, blending different sounds and rhythms to create an intriguing soundscape that will stir the listener spiritually from within. The band consists of band members Joy Tang on piano, Tan Lee Ying on vibraphone, Amadeus Davito Kohar on guitar, Jonathan Ho on bass, and Josiah Suthan on drums.

Led by 11-year-old concert master Denise Mubin, Arioso Sinfonia will be presenting “Baroque Treasures” featuring Vivaldi’s “Four Seasons” for one night only in Johor Bahru. Arioso Sinfonia will be joined by Mr. Loo Bang Hean, who is widely regarded as one of Malaysia’s finest pianists.

STEVE THORNTON STEVE THORNTON Before 1997, Steve Thornton had an illustrious and impressive career living and working in New York, having worked with world renowned artists such as Herbie Hancock, Mongo Santamaria, jazz legend Miles Davis, pianist McCoy Tyner, as well as Tracy Chapman, Mariah Carey, and Michael Jackson. Upon moving to Malaysia, Thornton has been grooving up the local music scene with his skilful, upbeat and catchy percussions ever since.

TRIBUTE TO FARID ALI The JB Arts Festival pays tribute to the late, legendary ‘Mr. Gambus’ Farid Ali, who passed on last December.
TRIBUTE TO FARID ALI
With a musical career that spanned over three decades, Farid left a great legacy as a composer, guitarist, gambus player and music educator. Hosted by Roger Wang, the concert will feature friends, students and musicians who have been inspired by Farid. They include Gina Panizales, Fauziah Gambus (Puteri Gambus), Steve Thornton, the A.K.A. Guitar Trio, Peter Lau, Simon Lau, Sidi Gambus, members of AkashA and more.

ANGELS ON THE HILL 4 ANGELS ON THE HILL 4 Appearing at the JB Arts Festival for the 6th time, Angel Art and Dance Academy is an integrated art school specialising in innovative ethnic dance, combining creativity with spirit and dancing principles to promote traditional and cultural dance in Johor Bahru. HEARING FROM THE HEART TAKE THE ROAD TO A HEALTHY HEART In conjunction with the global World Heart Day, Regency Specialist Hospital (Regency) will be organizing a community day to raise the public awareness on Heart Disease.
