Introduction
Indigenous peoples are the holders of unique languages, knowledge, and beliefs. These cultures are not fossilised expressions of an unchanging society – they are continuously adapting and evolving. Incorporating past, present, and future into a complete and present reality, indigenous cultures possess some of the world’s longest continuing traditions and oldest cultural histories. In recognition of The United Nations’ International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples (August 9th), the Johor Bahru Indigenous Festival (IF) invigorates the communication and celebration of indigenous culture, tradition, and rituals.
