A brief note on the correct application of Copy/Monitor tool that is contained in Revit Copy/Monitor tool which is incorporated in Revit is largely used by BIM modelers during design coordination wherein in all the important design stakeholders such as architects, structural engineers and MEP engineers integrate on a building project. In other words when interdisciplinary design teams (architectural, structural and MEP design teams) cooperate on a building project and share vital design information among each other, they optimize Copy/Monitor tool for monitoring design elements and for communication changes. They have to use Coordination Revit tool when they review warning about the changes made to monitored elements. Correct application of Copy/Monitor tool in Revit
So far it is clear that Cop/Monitor tool is used for monitoring elements or imperative part of the design when interdisciplinary models are linked together. It helps in coordinating the changes to different disciplines that have been made by BIM modelers in building design. When modelers working on Revit link another Revit model in their project monitoring elements of both linked and host model becomes somewhat complicated and require the application of correct tools. So for example architectural model is linked in a structural project then different tools are used for copying and monitoring the elements of structural model and architectural model. These tools can be accessed by Revit users after clicking on the Copy/Monitor tool which ultimately leads to the appearance of a drop down menu which incorporates ‘Current Project’ tool and ‘Select Link’ tool. That means when interdisciplinary models are linked in Revit then for copying and monitoring the elements of host project and linked project Revit users have to make use of different tools. For copying and monitoring the elements of a host projects, Revit users have to click on the Copy/Monitor tool after which they have to use Current Project tool from the drop down menu. That means for monitoring the elements of the host project they have to use Current Project tool. On the other hand for copying and monitoring the elements of a linked project they can use Select Project tool from the drop down menu.
In this way design can be monitored effectively by Revit users during interdisciplinary design coordination.
